From what a friend said he should throw again Thursday, I don’t follow MLB but that’s what I was told

I wonder if the Cubs getting a second look at him will make any difference?

Probably but you can easily say the same thing about Skenes being more familiar with them.

How does he have a 6.75 ERA? It should be 3.... and 2 of those runs were because the relief pitcher decided he didn't want to throw strikes anymore.

Those two runners were allowed on base by Skenes. They are his responsibility once they are on base, unless they got on base by an error. If this is the case, they are unearned runs.

This is a pretty new rule the MLB enacted a year or so ago. Fascinating shite indeed.

He only pitched 4 innings. 3 runs. ERA is an average per 9 innings. 3x9/4=6.75

They got on base while facing Skenes, so if they score they count against him, no matter how inept the relief guy was..... and he was. Doesn't seem fair, but pretty sure that's the rule :(

I agree that a runner on second and third should be the offgoing pitchers responsibility because of RISP. What happens if a coach intentionally walks a player to set up left on left for a double play? Man on first shouldn’t count.

Not saying it can’t/won’t/hasn’t happened, but with the automatic IBB why would you intentionally walk a batter and then pull the pitcher?

On the other side, I never got bringing in a reliever to issue an IBB. Guy comes out of the pen and the first thing you have him do is throw four balls.

Good point. Only thing I can think of in my example is visit the mound then automatic walk to give the relief just a tiny bit more time

What? The rule that baserunners are charged to the pitcher who put them there is not a “new rule.” That’s been in effect since time immemorial.
