Best bars and restaurants?

The nearest access to I-75 (or Hwy 301) to get the hell away from there!

Been to Gainesville once (2012ish). Worst SEC college town I’ve ever been to. Towns a dump, the people suck, the places around town sucked. I’ll never go back to that god forsaken place.

If you're staying a while, I recommend Satchel's. It's a pizza place. It has a good atmosphere and the food is pretty good, but it's pretty far away from campus.

Gainesville, like others have said, is not one of the better SEC towns.

It's a terrible place and the fans there suck for the most part.

Worst SEC experience by a lot for myself.

Good luck

Not worth going. They intentionally make it unpleasant for visiting fans. I'm not talking about trash talk. I'm talking about the police harassing you.

98 and 00 I went. There’s a reason it’s been 20 years since I’ve gone back.

If you are older than 20, I would go out downtown. 101, dragonfly or mark’s for dinner, then just bar hop around there

If you are under 20, just stick on University. Grog house, social, 101 cantina

Been a few years, so not sure if all those places are the same still

just recently went last couple of years to see LSU basketball and baseball games. Got a few good places right on main road of stadium to grab some good food and a few drinks. There probably wont be much going on for tailgating this year so just hang around the stadium and walk to the game. As mentioned don't drink to heavily because the cops are everywhere and yes the gator fans are annoying and crying bitches so be aware. Good luck and

I live in Orlando.....being as it's close relatively is the ONLY reason I'd set foot in that awful town. Gator fans are the absolute worst fans in the conference.

Don't go.....Soon as games have ended we haul arse.....not a damn thing worth doing or seeing in G'ville.

I live closer to Orlando but seriously everything said in this thread is true. It’s is completely devoid of anything redeeming.
Perhaps bring kayaks and visit a nearby spring. That’s about all I can offer.

Obigatory Cafe Risqué if you're single. Otherwise pay $20 to park in a "yard" 5 blocks from the stadium oh sorry "protest" and BBQ. There's a side BBQ pace with a good burger by the stadium. Don't be drunk because ABC cops everywhere. Otherwise enjoy an actual nice campus but shite tailgating. Oh and Geaux Tigers.
