Milazzo batting 290 for the year! Before the season this board was full of posts about Milazzo and whether he could just maintain an average north of the Mendoza line. He had a few fluke-ish hits in the first few games that got his average above 300 but then it kept rising, and he was hitting about 350 entering SEC play iirc. Of course it dropped some, but if anyone had proposed Milazzo at 290 for the year he’d have been laughed off the board.

Pearson’s catch in the eighth or ninth in game one. If he gets a bad jump or takes a bad step we lose in 2.

Riley Cooper was phenomenal in the CWS; easily could have been MVP. Got some heat early in the season but ig boy delivered. CJJ knew what he had.

The Louisiana-heavy lineup with so many loyal-to-the-program guys. 6 of the 9 batters down the stretch were consistently from the Boot.

This. So many of the douche bags on this site have no sense of sportsmanship because they never actual played, or they were bench warmers who bragged about being on the team.

Nothing is worse for an athlete than to let himself down.
There is a movie scene that explains it perfectly.

(admit it..after that UF 2 run homer early in the game we all thought “here we go again”)

Ya know, to be honest, in large part from reading about baseball from posters here, I didn’t really feel much from it. It was too early, too little and too many (all, really) questions to be answered.

Skenes vs Lowder in the greatest CWS game ever played, with the storybook ending that it deserved

That really was the peak. What an amazing performance by both of those pitchers, just toying with two of the most lethal offenses in college baseball. The LSU-UF games 2 and 3 just emphasize how amazing they were.

And as good as they were, the Tre Morgan, Milazzo play at the plate and Stevenson catch just took it to another level. Then Tommy and Cade took us over the top. That was seriously one of the best college baseball games in the history of the fricking sport.

It’s still hard to comprehend: our weak bullpen was supposed to keep us out of it (be it the finals or at least the semifinals) but pitching ended up winning it time and again.

Add: Tre and his crazy arse defensive play! That was legendary!

This must be included.

We were done if he didn't make that play.

I will remember how unselfish this team was. It is quite amazing how Jay Johnson got these guys to buy in completely to what he is doing and put being a good teammate first and foremost.

Think about the selfless acts we saw play out this year:

- Beloso comes back not knowing if he would have a spot in the lineup and starts the season coming off the bench. He ends the season batting leadoff in GM3 of the CWS and gets on base 4 times.
- Pearson, after tearing it up as a freshman, has a rough fall and loses his spot to a true freshman. Could have very easily collapsed, but he worked his arse off and contributed any way he could, including saving the season in GM 1 of the CWS Final.
- Skenes gives up the bat and goes all in on becoming the best starting pitcher he can be.
- Guidry gives up his bat to help the team on the mound after losing several pitchers.
- Milazzo loses his spot to a true freshman. Like Pearson, he could have very easily collapsed, but he put his head down and worked his arse of. He then lost his spot AGAIN to Travinski. He could have sulked in the dugout and put his name in the portal, but he focused on being the best teammate he could be and helping the team however he could.
- Travinski could have very easily transferred out last year and probably put up some good numbers as a everyday 1B, DH, or C at another school. He stuck it out knowing that he would likely be 3rd on the depth chart at C. We don't win a NC without him.
- Morgan plays out of position defensively for half the season because it was best for the team.
-Thompson....this one really doesn't require an explanation. Between the errors last year and the struggles at the end of this season, lesser players (and lesser men) would have collapsed. He came through on the biggest stage with Tiger Nation behind him.

That's what I will remember most about this team. It was truly a team that would do whatever it took for the TEAM to win, even if it may have been against their own best interest.

I can't pick one.

This was a tremendous run. What a talented and exciting team to watch!

Also, I’ll recall how the often maligned bullpen pitchers saved their best performances for the NCAA playoffs when it really mattered

Last night’s crowd consisting of 99.5% Tiger fans chanting: “JORDAN THOMPSON” each time he was at the plate. This epitomizes the love we have for our people.

A lot of us were critical of Thompson’s performance all tourney. The casuals and idiots will get personal about it, but the real fans among us always cheer for these guys as people, even when they struggle.

I wasn’t mad at Jay when he sat Jobert at the end of game 1. He was in a bit of a slump. It happens. He was right back in the lineup the next day. Jay sat Milazzo late for Travinsky for a bit more at the plate in one game, as well. He was back in there for the last game and delivered.

Sometimes that happens and there’s no reason for fans to ever get personal about it. Our players are all human beings and you all KNOW how much Thompson much have been killing himself after game 2.

Honestly, if Thompson had started off badly at the plate again and had another error early in game 3, I wouldn’t have blamed Jay for subbing him. No one can forget Saban making the ultimate title game move benching a career winner in Jalen Hurts for Tua. Sometimes that’s what is best for the team.

But damn I’m glad that’s not what happened. It was fricking amazing seeing Thompson get those two big hits when the game was still in the balance and then kill it all day in the field. Him getting the first two outs in the 9th was just perfect. He was ON.

You never want to get personal criticizing a player, but it IS personal for real Tiger fans when it comes to these guys succeeding. I loved seeing these players like Thompson, Jobert, Dugas and Beloso who have been through so much having the time of their lives out there last night. That made me really happy, but Thompson most of all.

I thought a big momentum shift for the team was Achenhsusen’s game against wf. His gem picked up the whole team and he saved all our staff going into UF.
It came out of nowhere and was clutch as hell.

The pitching staffs transformation might be the biggest turn around I’ve ever seen in sports. There was a stretch where every single pitcher that came in seemingly had his best performance of the year. And it took every single one of the performances to make it out of the losers bracket against some absolutely elite competition.
