His demise is a key factor to this season

Biggest disappointment for me. I thought he was going to be a monster this year. I don’t mean this post to be hyper critical. Just thought his season was going to go better.

Kind of been the big surprise of the season so far. Went from being penciled in as Friday Night Starter to barely pitching in the weekends. The whole thing is strange

yeah it sucks. He needs to throw his breaking ball for strikes or teams sit on his fastball.

which isn’t easy.

Something about his fastball seem hittable.

I’m not normally superstitious but Hurd fell victim to a curse.

Hurd was just as bad as last year outside his Omaha run. He’s the same exact pitcher as last year. Not sure why some expected different

His last SEC start began with 4 shutout innings against Florida. The key to Hurd is pulling him before things go sideways. Hurd isn’t doing what we hoped obviously but I’m not ready to give up on him.

Especially after him finally having success on the biggest stage last year and working with the best in Skenes to boost confidence and now his chance now as a leader.

He was extremely hard to watch all last year and his CWS outings made some completely forget that. He had a 5.7 ERA last year and it’s ~6.4 this year. He’s worse but not that much worse, especially if you remove his great postseason numbers and just look at his regular season body of work

Agreed. Was expecting Friday night Ace outings from him. Still hoping he figures it out bc he seems like a great person. To say he has been disappointing this season is an understatement.

Hey man. I agree, but these kids are battling their asses off. And they read this board. Guarantee you no one feels worse about Thatcher not living up to the expectations we set for him than Thatcher Hurd. We still have baseball left to play. We need to RALLY our troops, and as my favorite coach said "negativity is contagious". I think we're about to witness a baseball team battle as hard as the 2023 LSU Tigers did, and I think we're gonna piece it together and see how goddamn far we can take this shite. I bleed purple and gold and will scream my lungs out til the final at bat. THIS NEGATIVITY GOTS TO GEAUXXXXX.

he was coming off a back injury last year and he was pitching a lot better down the stretch.

it’s not insane to think a player who go progressively better may actually be better

Yeah, Hurd, and to a lesser extent Coleman, are the pitching disappointments that have handicapped this staff.

Kling and Neil at the plate.

Omaha pitching makes people forget the season. Every time we make Omaha we have guys play lights out and everyone just expects that to carry over to the next season.

Some Arkansas guy posted in Feb that if Hurd is our ace then we are in trouble and everyone got pissed. It was an honest assessment though.

Hell he was getting lit up in our spring game. Without a second or third pitch and a fastball without much movement he is just not tht good. Glad he found at the end of last year but he just is not good right now.

I thought he'd see a big development jump after Omaha last year but if you honestly evaluate his time at LSU, he really only got hot during regionals on forward. If you looked at him the rest of the season he was wildly inconsistent like he is now. I think LSU was just hoping he'd take the next step development wise and after Omaha he showed it. Unfortunately, doesn't look like that happened.
