To me this was the biggest win of the season for LSU. Keeps realistic shot at hosting a regional alive and well.

I told everyone sitting next to me that the fastball pitcher they brought in was a great match up for Doughty. My boy Cade came through big time!

I'd be ecstatic with 2/3 at Bama.

He should be happy. This was a huge game. His tinkering today didn’t work out so well. To get that big win in a 9th inning comeback is a great feeling.

Lefties have had their number pretty much all season, especially since Dugas went down. How was today’s result any different? I don’t see how you can conclude the trouble was today’s lineup. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. At least Johnson tried to do something different today. To me, the main takeaway is that they need Dugas back badly.

I've never been a fan of sitting your most talented players for bench guys just because of matchuos. Especially in May, it's time to get your best guys in there and roll with them IMO. I'd take it a step further and decide on an order and stick with that too.

How is Pearson hitting against lefties? Sometimes you have to platoon at certain positions if a player is struggling against pitchers from the same side. That said, I don’t think Bianco is the answer. They need Dugas back badly.

And don’t underestimate how big Berry’s AB was. He was frustrated on 2 called strikes he disagreed with that at bat after a few others earlier in the game, but he stayed in his AB, stayed focused, and put a great swing on a line drive single to left. Mentally tough. He could have given that AB up. Instead, he gets the hit, puts the pressure on their pitcher without his best stuff, who makes a mistake, and our boy Cade was ready to make him pay for it.

And, with two strikes on him, he didn't try to crush the ball and tie the game up. Instead, he took a nice easy swing and slapped that pitcher's shite out to LF for a base hit. THAT was a professional AB!
And, of course, our man Cade took care of the rest from there.

I think when you're dealing with a talented freshman like Pearson and/or Stevenson that you need to let them work through that. We've seen what the other guys can do and if they were better they would have won the job for the position. IMO you let the young guys go through their growing pains and adjust to SEC pitching so that they're better for it in the postseason.

This shows you think getting to a ball quickly is only about speed.

Good point. I assumed you were just referring to speed and basing judgement on appearance alone. My error.

I think he’s given them ample opportunity to work it out and it’s not happening. This team is anemic against left handed pitching. Something has to change or they won’t last long come postseason. I don’t agree that other hitters are clearly not better against lefties just because they didn’t earn the starting spot against right handed pitching. Left handed hitters in particular often struggle against pitchers from the same side. Even at the major league level, it’s not unusual to see a lefty-righty platoon. I don’t think Bianco is the answer but Johnson has to try SOMETHING.
