Top based on what? We suck lol. Frick a recruiting title. We wont even make the postseason this year. But congrats on the #1 class

Your arguments make zero sense lol. Does every coach that miss postseason one year suck? Might want to check out the coaches around the country who have missed postseason.

Johnson made the CWS finals his first year at Arizona, presumably with the former coach's recruits.
while true Andy Lopez who was Zona previous coach had gone 3 straight years of missing the NCAA tournament. So I’ll ask this why couldn’t he win with his own players?

This statement is ridiculous and contradicted by your next sentence. His recruiting efforts have been very highly ranked.

They may be but it’s not showing on the field.

Johnson took Arizona to the CWS twice though.

He's been to Omaha 3x's now in the past decade. Not too many coaches can say that. Especially at multiple schools.

The CPM recruits things cracks me up. It was the right amount of blend of players. People don't realize how important his guys were to that team as well? Also, why didn't CPM have more success with his players? 1 title in how many years?

I don't care if LSU was highly ranked I always had concerns replacing that many veteran players. If this happens next season then I will join in on the panic, but it's one down season.

I have said it before and i will keep saying it. What Jay Johnson did in his first season at LSU is even more impressive than last season. He was not left with a starting pitcher and still won a ton of SEC games. It was an impressive season considering he wasn't left with a true Friday night starter.

Really tired of the Jay Johnson hate, but people were trashing him last year and he had to be perfect. So just have to endure it the rest of this season I guess until he can once again prove the doubters wrong.

If it’s Tre the 4th, whould that make him John Morgan the 7th or the 12th? Do you multiply the exponent?

Very well, nerd.

Tré = John III
Tré 2 = John IX
Tré 3 = John XXVII
Tré 4 = John LXXXI

It’s an exponential series. f(x) = 3^x
Assuming it takes 25 years to produce a single John Morgan and 18 more years to train him for collegiate baseball, Jay will need to be coaching in the year 4,067 before he can sign Tré Morgan IV.

So the point that remains that he can evaluate talent and he gets the talent to LSU.

Why couldn't Andy Lopez win with his own recruits? Maybe he did a poor job of coaching them. The more likely answer is that they were still young, inexperienced players, and young, inexperienced teams don't win championships.

They were an older, more mature, more experienced group when Johnson took over.

If the recruiting classes are that good, what happened this year?

we only got 2 starting fielders and a a midweek starter.

They’re freshmen playing in the toughest league in the country.

look at how many older guys were on the last 3 teams to win the CWS.

you need elite talent and experience.

The issue is the 2021 class is gone and the 2020 class was terrible.

The question asked was why didn't Lopez win with his own recruits that were inherited by Jay Johnson?

hard to imagine a 2X national championship coach at two different programs and winning 3 different conference titles who also been COY 3X doing a terrible job at coaching players.

I mean… he retired for a reason.

Hasn’t been to the post season in 3 years. the team Jj took to the Finals didn’t have a since player drafted in the first 3 rounds that year.

I know I’m just don’t get how people want to shite on Johnson for taking that team to the finals and take away his credit when a HOF NC winning Coach like Andy Lopez couldn’t even get that team to a regional for 3 years with the same players.

So he came in right at the end of a recruiting cycle so I'm not gonna count that recruiting class. That means anyone who is a JR/ (RS)SO or higher isn't someone who Jay likely recruited. I know with the portal people were in and out but just some perspective on why after so many players left/got drafted this team looks gutted.

It doesn't help how there's a few players we can all name that haven't made the jump they needed to make. I believe Johnson made a comment about how he should've grabbed another bat in the portal earlier this year.
