You'll hear a lot of us middle aged farts (went to LSU 1979-1983) say the USC game in 1979, even though we lost.

Depends on perspective. I would say "greatest" was any of the NC games. But most incredible was UF 97. Watched the FG upright catch Jordy Hultburg in the chest and my pockets stuffed full of turf.

In terms of sheer greatness of circumstance, I don't know how you can't go with UF 97.
UF was ranked #1 and was the defending champ.
UF had beaten LSU 9 times in a row.
LSU had beaten Vanderbilt by only 1 point the week before....nobody thought we could win.
The game was tied 14-14 in the 4th quarter, before 2 UF turnovers led to 2 LSU scores.
UF almost came back, but Jesse Palmer was picked off (again) to end the game.
It was a great game.

'93 at #5 Alabama ... maybe not "the greatest game ever" but certainly an honorable mention ... LSU beats the defending national champs, at a time when our program needed a big win
