In this case, yes. What terms describe the basics of the play? 1. The WR runs a hook pattern, then after catching the ball he makes a 2. LATERAL to a trailing offensive player. Just because a lot of people (including NFL.com) mistakenly refer to the play as a "hook and ladder" (where's the "ladder" come from???) doesn't make the term correct.
And I've always referred to the other play as a "shuffle" pass, but there appears to be just as much confusion over the correct terminology, as well.
