Why doesn't LSU play good teams before SEC play?

I know CSF is coming in a few weeks, but that's it? Surely LSU could schedule someone better than a 3 game weekend series with Holy Cross

Big teams like to schedule home games and as many as they can get.

Same recipe we've used for years.
Don't fix what's not broken.

You clearly demonstrate a wealth of knowledge on college baseball.

We are playing 1 good weekend series out of 4 and a good team midweek with Southeastern. Our Conference is the toughest in the nation, thats why. We will already have a good SOS rating.

It's obvious that LSU has no knowledge on baseball. We should schedule Rice, Florida State, TCU, UCLA, Cal-State and Texas every year.

Same reason as in football for most years....have to have a certain number of home games to make the budget work and smaller schools dont require a return visit after they come here.

It gives you an opportunity to play as many players as possible, helps the northern schools out and stacks up the wins total before the SEC begins. SEC is pretty stacked in baseball, moreso than any other conference. Having Cal St. is pretty big IMO. Also, Southeastern is no slouch.

Check out the Texas Longhorn schedule every year. A bunch of home games. They hardly ever go on the road except in their conference.
At least LSU will go on the road to play Tulane and a Northwestern.

Depends what you mean by BIG TEAMS...Fullerton Travels to TCU and LSU for weekend series and play UCLA 2x. Rice does similar scheduling as does Stanford.
AND yes I know those teams don't play in the mighty SEC. And before any rantard tries to go off on me, I am a lifelong LSU fan, I just so happened to graduate from CSF.

I agree with all of this. Baseball is a game where a lot of times it takes a while to get in your groove and getting as many at bats to as many players as possible before SEC play is huge. It also allows us to get as many pitchers experience as possible.

just be happy we are playing CSF.
I hate the way we schedule OOC. I really think it sets us back a little once we hit SEC play.

I also understand this argument. Maybe the best way would be to have one of the tourneys here. have a couple good teams with a couple average teams.

Just because CSF is traveling doesnt mean LSU should. We really dont know how many big name teams WANT to come to The Box. LSU CERTAINLY doesnt need to travel to get a good SOS and brings in huge crowds which makes money for LSU baseball a rarity in college baseball.
So basically:
1) LSU has no need to travel
2) LSU will play whomever wants to come down here and play.
Its baseball.. LSU isnt exactly scared to play anyone at home so long as they get the game at home where money is made.

shite, even schedule teams in LA to come and play at the box. We have enough good teams that would make better series than Holy Cross or Princeton..mid week vs Sacred Heart or Miss Valley state.
Coach PM has had some pretty horrible OOC scheduling since he has arrived.
really if you look at our schedule, we wont play a team that tests us until we play CSF. That is 13 games into the season. We start SEC play after the CSF series.

LSU has scheduled 2 big conf schools OOC along with the standard slate of Louisiana schools pretty much every year since PM has been here what is wrong with that?
