Biden proposed 44.6% Capital Gains tax, 25% tax on Unrealized Gains

Probably won’t pass, but this idea of taxing unrealized gains keeps coming back up from Dems, now it’s being presented in a budget from the president of the United States. WTF do these people think the economy would do if they taxed unrealized gains?

While it will never pass, It required an income over 1 million and an invest income over 400K.
That is very very small set of people. There are actually very few people who have standard income that high, and that is by design. Probably professional athletes might be one of the biggest sets of people.
Not sure how there is any discussions for lower and middle class at all.
Once again, this is in a separate proposal from his budget. So even they know it is just political posturing.

Considering the president's "budget" is just a proposal for congress to talk about. It is generally used as a political talking point. The president does not set the budget, despite some people who think the president is responsible for everything.

They could tax us all at 100% and they'd still find a way to print more money. Screw these people. All they are are thieves, nothing more.

While I agree for the most part, the idea of taxing unrealized gains has been around a long time. In the news it makes sense, however in practice it is basically impossible.

The fact you think it would be okay to tax unrealized gains on anyone is troubling. People are successful, so let’s tax them on something they have not even earned?!? Go read the history of income tax and get back to us on the “only applies to income over $1mm”
Either way, taxing unrealized gains is the stupidest economic policy ever proposed by a president. A watered down version would be equally stupid. I don’t care if it doesn’t apply to me (yet).

What is misleading about this post other than I didn’t include the income portion? It is what Biden proposed. Even if you like Biden it’s ok to admit this is absolutely idiotic policy at any threshold.
