*Not a gaslight attempt

What is the reason Tesla has ~10x the market cap of either F or GM? There are future cash flows priced in that the traditional car makers don’t have.

For fun, let’s assume TSLA’s car business is twice as valuable as F/GM, ~100B. What does the market see to give it the additional ~$300B of market cap?

- Charging infrastructure - make money helping other manufacturers EV owners charge their EVs
- auto drive licensing - Elon has made it known that he wants to license auto driving capabilities to others.
- robotaxi - allowing users to make money with their cars when they aren’t using it as well as allowing non human driven cars carry passengers. Replacement for Uber / taxis
- AI - artificial intelligence to further growth of his other companies and Teslas capabilities.
- humanoid robots - replacing and scaling jobs humans don’t want or can’t do.

Tesla really is a tech company that happens to sell cars.

So do we think it will go up or down after Q1 earnings?

Options liquidity is my guess

I don’t know about all that. I am curious in learning more about what you mean & how the options market liquidity or lack thereof can affect the common.

After reading up.. F and GM market caps are probably understating the size of those companies. They’re loaded with debt.

Enterprise Values
F ~157B
GM ~148B
TSLA ~450B

So TSLA still nearly 3x the size of the two legacy Detroit automakers, but market cap isn’t the way to compare due to the very different balance sheets.

I think it will drop further (and I own 230k worth @ 191 a share)

I will be down cost averaging because I think once a flurry of positive news hits it’s going to go back up. The stock is volatile in general because most trade it based on knee jerk emotion in response to the eccentric billionaire CEO

I am closing on a house may 3. Once that is done I’m shifting funds to acquiring more. I am hoping it is still in the pits so I can DCA and when it bounces I have more gains.

But, either way, as long as it is under the 191 a share I’m currently averaged at, I’m going to keep acquiring more.

I don’t see the company fundamentally failing so it will stay and at the very least be supported meme stock style by folks like the woman mentioned in OP until I exit. Never underestimate folks obsession with eccentric billionaires lol

Bingo, market got ahead of Tesla, but Telsa has established itself as the GM or Ford of the EV market. So goes the ev market, so goes Tesla. EV market is just having some issues right now, but it is the future of cars regardless of what people think.

You can't poke your core customers in the eye
Bud Lite found that out and Elon and his Twitter statements
did the same thing. EV buyers slant a certain way and Elon poked them

But on just those shares alone she's down $700K.

I wonder how she'll vote on Musk's $56B comp package?

quote:

Tesla said Wednesday it will ask shareholders to reinstate CEO Elon Musk’s $56 billion pay package, which a Delaware judge voided earlier this year after ruling that the record-setting compensation deal was “deeply flawed.”

Tesla also said it would ask shareholders to approve moving the company’s incorporation from Delaware to Texas. Musk had suggested the move after his pay package was ruled illegal. The announcement Wednesday came days after the automaker said it would cut its workforce by 10%.

Tesla said the court decision created a “fundamental problem for the company.”

What you’re saying may be true. But that doesn’t overshadow the fact that this woman appears to be in WAY over her skis. I’ll make a fairly safe assumption that in addition to her HELOC and second job, she’s likely also used margin to buy TSLA shares. I’ll further assume that hers is anything but a diversified portfolio. So I’m guessing that most all of her eggs are in the basket labeled “TSLA: ride or die”.

I don’t care what stock it is or what the company’s prospects may be, that is completely insane behavior. Even if she was just investing with her own (unborrowed) cash, it would be crazy. But borrowing against your house?! Working a second job?! And if she also has margin debt, should she fall below her maintenance requirement and get a margin call, the decision to sell will not be hers… the brokerage will liquidate a sufficient number of shares to bring her back in line. And if she can’t keep up with the payments on that (probably 9% +/- interest rate) HELOC, welcome to living in a pup tent by the highway.

Tesla's Model Y is the #1 selling car in America. Comparing them to Bud Light is kind of crazy.

Earnings went well. Up 11% after hours.

Squashed a lot of misinformation that took place over the past month and let it slip that a major OEM is already talking to them about licensing FSD. Noting that even with a signed licensing deal it would take 3 years for an OEM to implement and that gives them more lead time for their vehicles.

Robotics and AI and Self Driving are what make this thing worth what it is and then some.

The cars are distributed compute for their entire system. I'm going to continue acquiring as much as I can when I can. May 3rd needs to come on so I can close on my house and get situated LOL

I thought it would keep dropping. I do have TSLL calls for 2026 though. It's trending even higher now.

Does she list her actual holdings or is it just posts that could be looking for clout?
