You say this every race in the middle of the race. Chase finished 5th.
Richmond is a tire track and it appeared Chase had a long run car. Chase is also known for saving tires so likely gave up some spots early in run.
Where I think they messed up is having a long run car and in stage 2 they pitted early going for a 2 stopper vice 1. Had they went for 1 they likely do better taking advantage of long speed.
In the last segment Chase was passing cars and got to 7th before caution. Restarted 6th and got to 5th.
I do agree they should be better with so many years but Chase is still figuring out car from lost time last year. After he missed chase they didn’t seem to try as hard so over half of last year was lost, and still figuring car out. But he’s having good finishes even when they have some segments of struggling during race. Gus will get all season no matter what.
Truex was right to be mad. I have mentioned this so many times but Hamlin having part ownership of 23X team is a massive conflict of interest. And it was 23X that cost Truex the race. Bubba could have avoided that spin by letting off gas. Not saying I blame him but a better driver avoids it.
And Hamlin did leave early. Cheated his way to win. Another poster said it but use the onboard data to void his win. But Nascar likes buddy Hamlin so won’t do anything. Anyone tied to their diversity team (23X), Nascar will not do much. Had that been Larson leaving early, Nascar penalizes him no question.
Truex beefed with Larson for no reason though. Came down and banged him on purpose so Larson used him up at finish. Truex beef was Hamlin but he was mad and I like to still see mad drivers with emotion. Truex is a clean driver and Hamlin not so much.

Admittedly I went to bed w/about 90 laps left and he was still running 12th or so and I was frustrated. Good to see.

Fair. And he is one of the best in the sport at saving his tires.

Again, fair.

I can agree with this and I will cede this to you. I will get off of the fireGus bandwagon for the balance of the season and we'll revisit in October/November. Hopefully you're right and we'll see this bear fruit.

"He went early"
Video inside Truex car proves he went early. Nascar penalized Chase using same data but Denny gets a pass due to his DEI ownership role of 23x.

I mean this isn’t rocket science. The restart zone is there for a reason, and it’s to enforce a rule, and he CLEARLY hit the gas before the line.

Telemetry shows all. They used that to essentially suspend Elliott last season to show his steering input in wrecking Hamlin. I guarantee the #11's telemetry shows he hammered the throttle prior to the line, it was visible to the naked eye. Nobody is having that conversation.

Sorry Bob but it was blatant and not even iffy. Rules are in place for this and should have been enforced. DH had already cleared a full car length by the end line of the restart zone due to jumping.

I agreed, until I saw an in car from Truex. I was thinking Hamlin was just rolling into the throttle, but he wasn't, he got on it hard just a tad early. Either have a box and enforce it, or get rid of the box all together.

Bull crap Bob. Telemetry and in car camera unequivocally show Hamlin hit the throttle a car length before the line. NASCAR had this info, but chose to give the win to Hamlin to keep their "hometown boy" narrative. The crowd told you real quick what they thought of their "boy".
(Most of the replies were to Bob Pockrass who is an Nascar puppet and toes the Nascar line - whatever they do/say Bob will agree with)

His strategy was to jump the restart. And it worked. They rule in absolutes when it comes to being outside the pit box by an inch, or if you miss a turn at COTA (as examples). They need to rule the same on restarts. Either he achieved the line first or he accelerated first. Easy.
They robbed SVG a 2nd place due to a very close lime violation last week. Get pit penalties for 1 inch out. Speeding if even .01 over 50.

Anyone listen to Barstool's Rubbin' Is Racing? They Had SVG on this week. SVG is a breath of a fresh air in NASCAR. Awesome to listen to.

Austin Hill will run 4 Cup races this year in the Childress 33 car. He gets Keith Rodden as his crew chief.
Here's a question: If he performs better than Austin Dillon did with the crew chief Dillon effectively fired.... does that affect Dillon's status?
I know nepotism is likely why it won't.

I wouldn't count on it.
Dillon is essentially an RCR employee for life at this point. Gotta love nepotism.

I honestly expect him to retire after this year. Or next. No way Childress was able to hang onto Austin Hill last off season without promising him something.

I agree, I think Austin Dillon will move into an off-track role at RCR in the next couple of years.

Anyone see the Denny Hamlin, Marcus Smith Twitter beef last night before they deleted their shite?

The Denny vs. Marcus Smith/SMI beef is not something I was expecting, but I’m glad it happened.

And I'm siding w/Denny here. The end is near.

WTF has Marcus Smith ever done?

He seems to be the Smith family version of Brian France.
