Kind of funny to see Denny Hamlin who races for Joe Gibbs racing and didn't finish the race standing in victory lane as the owner of a different team.

Had to work late and just caught up, McDowell has no one to blame but himself for getting wrecked. When Kes went high at first, blocking there was fine. But once Kes dipped to the bottom McDowell should have given him the lane and side-drafted Kes the final lap to go for the win instead of getting overly aggressive w/his blocking. Nobody should have any issue w/Brad there. He was going for the win and went about it the right way.

Very exciting end to the race.

Congratulations to Reddick. And his son will always be able to say that the greatest basketball player to ever live and arguably the most iconic athlete of all-time carried him to victory lane. That was pretty cool.

Yeah McDowell should have never gone for that second block although I think Brad wins if he doesn’t. Feel bad for McDowell but the Jordan car winning with Jordan there was awesome. Love seeing how much MJ actually cares.

Might be the worst fox broadcast I’ve ever seen.

Agreed. I was pulling for Brad there.

A lot of people don't know that he has been a huge race fan since he was a kid in N.Carolina. He knows the sport.

I'm a little surprised at how much leniency FOX and SiriusXM gave McDowell for the second block attempt. The consensus seemed to be, "it's Talladega, you gotta do what you gotta do to win."

Okay fine, it's easy for us to armchair quarterback the move in hindsight, but still, I can't be the only one who thought "uh oh" as he was coming back down the track.

He did say this in a later interview:

Denny wanted to blame Bubba there

Maybe but it was the talentless Nemecheck who caused it. The guy sucks.

Gibbs just tucked that high line

Speaking of sucks. Gibbs is an entitled twit as well. Only one reason he has that ride.

I still maintain what I said after Chicago. SVG might be one of the best racers in the world. Two full talladega races with little to no experience on ovals, let alone the craziness that is Daytona/talladega. Dude was in the mix yesterday and today. Brought both cars home without a scratch (or as close to that as can be). Results be damned. He was impressive considering.

This is correct. He needs his arse kicked a time or two.

This is a bad take. He's a spoiled arse brat but the kid has undeniable talent.

You're not wrong but he'd.have a ride w/a top team somewhere. His talent is just too obvious.

That sounds like a concussion.

Yep. That crash looked eerily like Earnhardts crash. The angles and impact were very similar.

The only thing that would have guaranteed him a shot at the win … I hear what Steeler said but trying for a side draft IMO would have been no better than 50-50 … is to successfully pull off the second block. I think McDowell just misjudged the strength of the push Kes got from Gragson.

The reality is that none of these fools, whether it’s at Talladega or on the streets of Chicago, are when they screw the pooch going to back off and say this one’s history let’s be satisfied and go to the next one, they’re going to try to force the issue and still make it work, because cars are pretty much considered disposable these days and if anyone wusses out there are a jillion kids with rich daddies and no fear waiting to take their jobs, and as hard a hit as Jones got it’s still become pretty difficult to bust your arse in these things. Which IMO is part of the problem.

Whoa, let’s not get carried away now. He has done a great job. But then you mention plate racing. Plate racing means anyone can win or do good. It’s a crapshoot of luck and timing.

In fact in the last 15 laps he was hurting the 3rd line. Chase would push him and they gained spots. But then he didn’t know how to drag his brake to stay close to Chase and keep momentum. So they lost as much as gained because he got way ahead and then slowed the whole line down. He’ll learn, but to call him the best driver in the world is just crazy talk.

I said pages ago that Nemechek is a wrecker.

And what happened throwing a yellow when the lead car was wrecking? So what then happened is all the cars behind the wreck stayed full throttle to get to finish. Nascar has no consistency in their rules. Sucks for Brad.

And Reddick is the clear leader of that MJ team. Yet Nascar will keep pimping Bubba. Glad for MJ though, he’s the goat.

Until they do something … and they won’t because a jillion mouth breathers out there think this is what NASCAR racing should be … to enable cars to separate themselves from each other on their own on plate tracks without external factors involved, these races are always going to be merde shows. Is what it is.
