Read an article about him getting booed at home today after another 0-4 in the Yankees shutout loss to Oakland.

He’s hitting .174 this season with 3 HR’s.

What surprised me was he only has 260 career homers as he turns 32. You would think he would have more, especially since he hit 62 in one season.

He is currently in Year 2 of a 9 Year / $360m contract, and is making $40m this year.

Three questions:

1) How much longer do you think he plays? Maybe 4 or 5, tops, I’d think, as he is clearly in decline.

2) How is this contract sustainable for the Yankees? Everyone likes to point out Stanton’s inflated contract, but Judge’s is far far more egregious.

3) Will they ever be able to win a championship paying these two?

dude, he isn't gonna leave that much money on the table. He'll play it out since he had to wait until he was 30 to get his first contract

coming off his 2nd best season at the plate and had essentially 5 WAR in 100 games last year

lets get into May first before we start talking about someone being in decline who may only have 4 years left of being a major league player

Late bloomer. I'm not sure when he landed in the majors, but he wasn't good until he was 27 or so.

his first full season was at age 25 and he should have won the MVP that year once the voters arbitrarity decided trout couldnt win

hes basically consistently dealt with injuries his whole career outside of his rookie year and 2021 and 2022

in those three full seasons hes combined for over 150 homers

Late bloomer. IIRC, he didn't debut until he was 25 or so.

Lot of injuries for a man his size. It's fair to wonder if he'll ever play more than 135 or so games in a season again.

You think that’s something?

Wait til the playoffs, where he really shines

Awwww, who am I kidding?

We both know with contracts like that, they’ll never afford a playoff roster

LMAO

But they’ll still make money off of lilavery’s gobbling up jerseys and any other genetic material of his they can find

He got to the majors late (2017) and his rookie and contract years were the only 2 he’s been healthy for. Yankees knew his age when they gave the contract and that it would suck late but it’s the Yankees.

When’s the last big long term baseball contract that works out? I feel like these guys always get these massive deals in their late 20s and then are complete arse for the rest of them into their 30s.
