You shouldn’t be playing, game after game, teams shite the bed doing the easiest thing in pro sports.

Downvote away like the MSB does, but if I’m paid millions of dollars to shoot a bouncy ball- im shooting a bouncy ball a high rate.

You're basically saying like 3/4 of the players in league history should have never played. Maybe more.

The league average is sub 80%

which is piss poor for someone making millions of dollars to shoot a ball in hoop.

I'm saying they should be able to shoot the ball in a very high rate when 90% games come down to a FT.

Can't make FT, get the frick out

I think we need to be a bit more generous here. Most guys in the NBA don't shoot 85%. I would say if you can't hit free throws >70% constantly, then you shouldn't be in the league. That's a bit more realistic I think

One might argue he could have 1 more because of Nick Anderson's poor FT shooting.

If everyday at your job you fricked up 30% of the time, how long does your compan keep you around?

Fatigue and different reactions to pressure can be factors.

This post is just dumb armchair criticism from someone who has never played basketball in their life, but you got me to respond, so fair play to you.

Well they are all being paid $millions$, I would work my arse off practicing FTs to have that gig.

But lets go on on Allstar weekend to promote Slam Dunks and shooting 3 vs a women. when we need to line up and see how many FTs we can make in a row.

I mean hell, there’s some major leaguers that “frick up” 70-75% of the time, and they are considered great players.

I agree with your overall sentiment about not hitting free throws, hence the word free, but you do realize the best career free throw percentage of all time is just above 90% right? Like above poster mentioned if your thread stated 70-75% I think that’s a bit more realistic.

In fact, only 3 players in NBA history have a career free throw percentage of above 90%.

Only 39 players in the entire NBA shoot >85% and only 6 shoot >90%

The league average is the highest it’s ever been at 77.8%

Maybe it’s not as easy as you think it is or maybe doing something in sports successfully, on average, 77.8% is actually good

You’re basically asking for near perfection. Thats a tall ask for anything in sports.

I’ll give you a similar comp. 5 foot putts in golf. The tour average is 82.4% and there are a lot fewer guys on the PGA Tour, all of whom are supposed to putt well, than there are NBA players, not all of whom are expected to be good shooters.

Wait, so you're saying All-star weekend should be nothing but free throw competitions?

Michael Jordan didn't transcend sports and become one of biggest celebrities of all time because of free throws, brah.

Why aren't people wearing Air Rick Barry's? 90% ft shooter

Go run and jump and shoot up and down a full nba court for 5 minutes and then tell me how easy it is to shoot fts

MSB posters trying to shite on basketball has got to be the most consistent whiff on this board

That's a great point, but OKC was 23/24 tonight from the line. That's clutch. All those veteran players for Dallas really have no excuse for that choke job, especially at home. Even Kyrie missed one, and he's the most reliable shooter on that team.

The fact that it so clearly cost them the game just magnifies it that much more.

It’s their job, not a hobby, not side gig, they make a lot money. Running and jumping is what they are paid to do.

I’m not a professional, but if I burn 3 out 10 basket of fries I would be mopping 55% of the bathroom floor, but y’all keep making excuses for the worlds “ best athletes”

A lot of these guys can shoot 85-90% in a gym while practicing. It’s slightly more difficult when you’re running up and down the court and then have the pressure of them mattering as well.

Your post will make Dallas owners feel good about there multi-million payroll barely over 50% tonight, all because they had to run up and down the court.
