Can anyone tell me why parents are pushing their kids to specialization in one sport. My friends and I played everything growing up whatever the season was. Now you have parents wanting their kids to pick one sport and go all in on that. Little do they realize their child can be a good high school athlete and then go on to college and become an intramural player. Let kids play everything each sport helps each other and the chance of these kids getting a scholarship are not to great about 2% get scholarships and 0.02 play pro ball. Nothing wrong with making lifetime memories with your high school friends competing and giving your all. As one coach told me every kid in calcasieu parish thinks they are headed to LSU to play Divsion 1 baseball. Great to have dreams and work hard but don't put all your eggs in one basket. If you are really good the coaches will find you where ever you are. Listen to the podcast Flying coach with Pete carrol, Steve Kerr,Dave Roberts all have won and played on champioship teams all played multiple sports and they each believe this is the best for kids.
