Yes this show is staged but I love it because at its core it is the story of a family, that fights , picks on each other has problems with their kids and wife's etc. but at the end of the day they make up ,point out what is important in life and end each show with a prayer around the dinner table.
People like Phil Roberston are what make our country great they built a family business from the ground up and are living the dream. My Dad owned a sporting goods store in central Louisiana from the late 60's to mid 90's and Phil started out calling on stores like my Dad's selling duck calls out of his car, he is the real deal.

The show has to be scripted to a degree but they way they talk to each other can't all be. I could see a bunch of coonasses doing pretty much everyhting that is happening in the show. It's not far fetched.
AS for football. Phil was a class ahead of Bradshaw and the starting QB. Phil left after his JR year to cincetrate on school and because football was interuppting his duck hunting. At least that what he said in an interview.

The situations they end up in are obviously staged, but it's just entertainment. If it's not for you, don't watch. IMO, I think it's one of the better "reality" shows on TV. Uncle Si is hilarious and seems very down to earth, along with the rest of the cast. But yes, they probably play it up a little for the show, but that's the entertainment part.
