I personally thought the 1st half of the movie sucked. Didn't get decent til the Scar King was introduced and did his Mick Jagger pose. I enjoy the monster scenes, but the predominantly human scenes suck. That lead actress, the token black guy, even the girl and her tribe... I didn't give a shite about any of them. Mothra was unnecessary. They need to make a film where the villain actually comes out on top at the end. All of these films end the same. Bring back King Ghidorah or something.

Yeah, all that Godzilla stuff and not a mention of Madison Russel? Bernie was 1/2 of Team Godzilla, but totally forgot about is team member. Lame.

They couldn't afford her, they spent all their money on CGI's. Also shes the wrong person to have a connection with Godzilla. It should be the son of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver from part one.

I just think a quick mention of Madison would have given the most causal nod to her. After all, she was the one who called out Ghidorah in KoTM, using the ORCA,then was his lone advocate in GvK. Bernie was & kid from Deadpool2 were ride-alongs. The Russell's are as tied to Monarch as Shaw & the Randa's were from Legacy of Monsters.
But that's a very minor side issue. Could have been a passing comment is all, but the movie had other issues.

Agreed... an "I tried to contact Madison, but she's off in college" or something. Just no mention whatsoever of anyone connected to Godzilla. To be fair, this was much more a Kong movie than it was a Godzilla movie. Godzilla was a supporting character.
Also... I found it humorous when Kong gave Suko something to eat, Suko went off, then looked at Kong sitting down, and was like... I'll do that as well. He got... comfortable with Kong, if that makes sense. First time anyone had ever been nice to him, I guess. Even though he was used by Kong as a club.
Also... had Skar not called up Shimo, could Kong have taken him?

Kong was the lead in both GvK and GxK. I mean, I get it, that Kong has more of an emotional, human like story, but we still don't know much about Godzilla.

I wanted Brody because he could have been Madison little brother replacement. Quicksilver and Scarlet witch coudl have been working for Monarch at this point. Also the reason why Kong is more popular is because he has the human story beat, in which a little girl befriends a gaint monster. We have seen those tropes work like Big Iron Gaint or Big Hero Six. Have Brody be friends with Godzilla or a connection would have balanced it out in Godzilla favor.
As for not knowing much about Godzilla.
We know quite a bit about him right now. For one he balance out what the other titans that act up. Secondly he and Mothra rule side by side, I am thinking it is probably for her that he usually spare the humans. He took great care to stick to the water line when a direct path would have been through the buildings.
We also know now why he seek out Kong it was because of Skar. The director is also a pro kong fan and is doing a hit job on Godzilla. He was much more thoughful in Godzilla 2014 and KotM where as they made him mean as frick in the Kong series.
Finally, this is Godzilla in a nutshell.

Don't know if the KotM Mothra was the sibling or the parent of the GxK Mothra. I suspect maybe that backstory is written in book form of some type, but I've not taken the time to read up on any of that. Not sure how it works in this universe, but I was under the impression that there can be only ONE at any time, kinda like the Slayer in Buffy. Who knows.

We need more solo Godzilla films with Toho monsters. Gigan, Biolante, Anguirus, Battra, and Destroyah could all easily fit into the monsterverse.
Also a Godzilla movie where Mothra doesn’t die is always something to note because she’s usually dying in them

I can't remember which one it was... but either Kong or Suko 100% did a Super Hero Pose at some point when they jumped back down into hollow earth.

saw last night with the family. did great and actually less superfluous suspension of belief than the last one or KotM to be honest .
total cheese movie but i enjoy them every time. Except KotM. that one sucked.
also, i have absolutely no dislike for the person, but i always laugh at Dan Stevens appearing in things like this. Dude had a golden egg being beloved on Downton Abbey and then had his character killed off so he could go work on movies instead and these are usually the roles he gets.

See, I really liked KOTM and GvK. I liked their action scenes much better than this one. I liked the 2014’s action and effects but there just wasn’t much of it. The monsters had more weight and seemed less cartoonish.
