EDIT: The show is now available on Netflix and Starz. Looks like we might have quite a few first timers so we're going to keep this spoiler free. No spoilers as in no discussion past the episodes we are assigned for the week. We'll try three episodes a week and see how it goes.

If you can't keep up, no worries, feel free to jump in and discuss where you are!

First time watchers, buckle up, you're in for a ride Some of the best characters and character arcs ever.

I'll keep updating the OP as we go on.

Current Discussion: (starts on page 7)
S1, EP4 - IV.. An undertaking by The Walrus crew ends in disaster. Silver warns Flint about Billy. Rackham and Bonny try to regain their livelihood. Eleanor needs help from her father. A figure from Vane's past pays a visit.

S1, EP5 - V. Flint and his crew of the Walrus play a deadly game of naval warfare when they engage Captain Bryson and the Andromache on the open sea to gain precious cargo. Meanwhile, Richard forces his daughter's hand about his business when he makes an announcement to the locals about his assets being liquidated, causing a mob to riot against Eleanor who seeks help from Hornigold.

S1, EP6 - VI.The costs of chasing the Andromache continue to mount. Eleanor needs Silver's help. Billy wants Gates to confront Flint. Bonny takes a stand.

Current watch (5/1/24 - 5/7/24)
:
Episodes: S1, EP7 to S1, EP9 (S1 finale)

Here's a link if you want to read up more about the episodes/characters. The show has a mix of fictional and real people. First time I watched it I didn't realize how many of the Pirates that pop up were real pirates.

Original post...

Alright, after a few failed attempts at a board rewatch, I think we can pull it off now that it is hitting the masses (Netflix) on the 17th.

If it's been over a year since you've watched it that means it's time for a rewatch. If you haven't watched it, it's time to start.

Here's my suggestion on how we go about it, feel free to offer a better way. It's better for discussion purposes if it's a paced watch, not a binge. I feel like a good pace could be 3(?) episodes a week. That would possibly satisfy those that watch at a faster pace but allow those that watch at a slower pace to keep up.

I could update the OP every week, for example, this Thursday the OP would be S1, EP1-3. Next Thursday, S2, EP3-5, and so on and so on. We would finish the show in 12 weeks at that pace. That seems a little slow actually because first timers are for sure going to get hooked and want to zoom through We could keep spoilers out by just discussing up to what we've watched/not past the OP title.

What say you? Jack Rackham LFG!

I just finished my rewatch, but if there is a schedule I would tune in for some key episodes.

I'm in, but not sure I can commit to three episodes a week. But I'll keep up anyway since I watched it in 2019.

For the Fringe Rewatch we did three episodes a week and it worked okay, but we just had so many people back out that it was only like 3 or 4 of us for most of the latter part of it.

At least if I have this thread it will make me want to watch episodes in order to participate more.

The actor who plays the lead, Toby Stephens, is Dame Maggie Smith's son. Black Sails has sex, violence and booooooobs.

Might want to start or use this thread to gauge interest and see how many people are interested. Make sure it’s worth the effort.

I’ll give it a shot. May have trouble keeping up with the 3 eps a week, but I’ve never seen it, and always wanted to

With three per week, how did you keep spoilers from the episodes being watched that week? For example, you're watching S2, EP7-9 that week. Did you wait until that week is over to discuss those episodes so someone still on episode 7 doesn't see posts about episode 9? Or am I overthinking this

Looks like you updated the OP with a rundown of the episodes each week? Or just simply stated what the viewing schedule was for the week.

Yeah three episodes were assigned each week and discussion began on Mondays I think. So on Monday I would update the OP with what the current discussion was about and then the next three episodes to watch for that week and discuss the following week. IIRC I had a short synopsis of each episode (think I got those from a Fringepedia type website) and whatnot. It worked really well but as expected participation quickly dwindled. But there were a few of us who were there every week and we would all give our thoughts (with gifs and pictures to boot) and respond to each other. You can see that in the threads though.

Tomorrow when I’m at my computer I can check my edit history and see if I can give you an example of the format I used each week. I realize the finale doesn’t really show you much on that front.

Netflix is much more pervasive than Starz ever was. I expect we'll pick up quite a few watching it for the first time in this thread.
