Think he didn't want Venom in there as the baddy and they forced him to do it. Plus he was already in Marvels good graces he directed the last Dr. Strange movie. Sony still made a crap load of cash off of Spiderman 3 even with it being terrible.

Not sure if I would give Rami the Spiderman franchise again, look at what did with Toby SM 3 and Multiverse of Madness. Having Dr. Strange gf leave him for a black guy was eye rolling enough, but to demote him from sorcerer supreme even though he's the strongest of them all? No, Rami hayday is done.

So the checklist in that movie was , General Surgeon White woman, Better boyfriend material black man, better leader and sorcerer asian man over a white man.
And FYI I'm not white and even I noticed this.

God I hope they take this in a street level direction with how No Way Home ended. It’s set up perfectly with Peter in the shitty apartment having lost everything and Spider-Man’s identity being a secret to everyone again.
Enter Kingpin as mayor of NYC cracking down on masked vigilantes like Spider-Man and Daredevil. Maybe bring back Michael Mando as Scorpion as one of Kingpin’s henchmen. I would be all in on that
