Can we talk episode 3 yet?

Inferno (kinda sorta)... the storyline I broke into comics on.

A lot going on in this one, almost too much

I'm wondering how many more times they're going to hit us over the head with the we're different because we're mutants story.

I understand it. I get it.

But can we kinda move on to the focus of them working as a team and kicking butt again?

Yeah it went very fast. If you don’t understand the characters it hits you like a ton of bricks. But it feels like they wanted to move on from the set up of a Jean Grey clone into the story of it. Wish they had more time to hash it out, but it’s still very good. Loved the shot at the end of the real Jean and Scott staring at each other like, what next? But I do feel like clone Jean just deciding to leave was a little fast considering how she feels about Scott. Scott also turned his back on her and her mind is really fricked from Sinister so I get it. She is a mess. We’ll see where they go with it.

I didn’t talk much about episode 2 but Magnetos costume aside, best non comic iteration of him I’ve ever seen. The last act of episode 2 is really, really fricking good.

It’s the core of X-Men. Always has been. New mutants coming in, learning about the current world they’re in, and how to live in it.

They should have done more than 10 episodes in a season if they wanted to cover as many stories as it seems like they are doing. Nobody does the full 22/24/26 anymore, but they could have at least pushed it to 12 or 13. If you're not familiar with the source materials, some of this can be a bit much to keep up with.

Oh how I missed Jean and her post telepathic episodes of crying and passing out all the time. At least this series quickly reminded me how annoying she was in the original series as a kid.

Yeah I don’t disagree with that. More definitely would have been better. But I still love the direction. Just wish there was more development time.

Way too fast

I know it's a cartoon, but in the span of like a week (maybe 2), Madelyne:

- had a baby
- found out she was a clone (destroying basically whatever she knew about herself)
- had her husband essentially leave her for the real Jean
- gave her son up to go to the future in hopes that he'd not die

Again, I realize it's a cartoon (even if it's supposed to be somewhat mature) with a limited amount of episodes, and I know she said something about wanting to leave, but that's a LOT for just one character to go through in such a short time.

Yeah I agree. Too much for one episode.

+1. She went from normal Jean to Goblin Queen to Madelyn Pryor to Nathan being taken away to the future within one episode. That's something which should have been stretched out over at least 2-3 episodes.

Best episode so far. I know the movies and the few comics I actually read from back in the day, but I don’t remember any of that. The previous episode was a part 1 and me and my boy were upset part 2 wasn’t next up, but we were pleasantly surprised.

Unbelievable episode. This show has no business being this good. They took a kids cartoon and made this out of it. Absolutely amazing.

I will say I was not a fan of episode 4. But this episode was very emotional and powerful.

The only cartoon I can think of off the top of my head that hit like that was Futurama's Jurassic Bark.

Calling it now. Marvel will bring the ‘97 team into the main cinematic timeline. The Watcher appearance confirms it’s already a universe in the MCU.

I think one of the reasons why I like this so much is because it has not featured Wolverine hardly at all. Not that I don’t like wolverine, but we’ve seen wolverine so much over the years. Like, it’s been more wolverine movies than X-Men movies. And while I like Wolverine, it’s cool to see some different storylines and then obviously they nail the execution also. Still very blown away by that episode lol.

I think we'll get some type of live-action representation (like maybe a character or 3) as a variant in Secret Wars. Maybe even before that in Deadpool 3.

But I doubt the whole team.
