The Cure are obviously one of the seminal bands of what at the time was called new wave and now would probably be considered post-post-punk. Although very well know, it could be argued they should be even more well known than they are, though amongst the people who do know them you rarely if ever hear a bad word about them. I think those 2 probably cancel each other out.
