New recent releases
Monster Magnet, 'Mindfricker' - Damn good. One of their best since Powertrip. In heavy rotation.
Fu Manchu, 'Clone Of The Universe' - Much better IMO than their last one. The 18 minute long 'Il Mostro Atomico' off of the hook. It's become one of my all time favorite Fu Manchu songs.
Been listening to a ton of Fu Manchu lately. What an awesome band. No ballads. Love it.
The Sword, 'Used Future' - Nowhere near as good as High Country, but one of those albums that gets better with further listenings. The song 'Used Future' itself is probably my least favorite. But in general I like it. Sounds killer in my car.
I also just got the newest Mangoo album from last year. Don't like it as much as the first one, but it's still decent. Not sure I dig the cover of Eddie Murphy's 'Party All the Time'. Feels too much like a forced gimmick.
This thread has definitely been neglected over the last year or so. The frick happened to JohnZeroQ?

New Pantopticon is out. I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet which is weird as they’re one of my favorite metal bands in recent years. I just haven’t been in a metal mood I guess.

Alex Lifeson plays on that song. Good album overall. The new COC doesn't really do anything for me.

Holy shite. Didn't know they had something new coming out. I loved the clarity and saw them at the Civic. My hearing hasn't come back since that show - front row, had face melted. The roadie gave me the set list sheet after the show.

New Sleep album is excellent. I'm on my 3rd listen in 24 hours. They never disappoint. Can't wait for the album to come in the mail.
As far as other 4/20 releases: Melvins is horrible (I've pretty much given up hope that they'll ever make an album close to the same realm as Houdini or Stoner Witch) and the new A Perfect Circle (not really theme of this thread) is quite boring.

Since it’s fairly close to LA, I’ll mention Mutants of the Monster fest coming up on June in Little Rock. Killer lineup featuring YOB, Pallbearer, Bell Witch, Full of Hell, Rwake, Living Sacrifice and a bunch more. Taking place at a pretty small venue called White Water Tavern over 3 nights. Should be epic.
