I was just wondering about that. If Saints win out and ATL only remaining loss is to Saints....it looks like you have to get down to #4 for the tiebreaker.

if the saints win out and atlanta only loses to us. they go because of the common games. we lost to arizona and they beat them.

Not so fast!! We beat the Steelers and they lost, so this tiebreaker is a wash too.
ETA Never mind. I forgot about the Browns loss.

The only possible game I can see Atlanta losing besides ours is Seattle. 3rd road game in a row & the weather could be a factor. Other than that one, we're doomed to be 5th even if we win out.

This is the NFL, and if Atlanta is overlooking any team, they can lose.

ATL is going to LOSE OUT and not even make the playoffs. book it

If Atlanta loses to Carolina (I know, laugh), but if they do somehow lose to Carolina and then to us, then the Saints can lose to Baltimore or St. Louis and still win the division.
In that event both Atl and NO would be 12-4, but NO would get the tiebreaker with a 5-1 division record compared to Atlanta's 4-2 record

I like that playoff generator. It's even better than yahoo's.

Common Opponents: Browns, Cardinals, Steelers, Bengals
Saints are 2-2, ATL is 3-1
ETA: common opponents to date...still have Seahawks, Rams, Ravens to make mutual as well

Tampa's schedule this entire year is a complete joke.
Posted on 12/7/10 at 9:14 am to DaTigahDen
We had a last place schedule last year.

The only scenario in which the Saints can win a tiebreaker is for the Falcons to lose one of their 2 games to Carolina.
That's pretty much all there is to it at this point.

for tiebreakers that is, I think a bad weather loss in Seattle is more likely. Saints 13-3, dirty birds 12-4 then.
Big weather in the long range forecast right now. Bad factor is that Saints will be in Baltimore the same weekend...
Could be some snow in NC this weekend...
Charlotte Sunday as of now...

Correct.
But an ATL loss to Carolina would allow us a slip up against either STL or Baltimore (sorry I even said it )

To show you how little defense matters anymore, click on "Defensive Rankings" and look at that bracket.
Saints get the #2 seed and the Pats miss the playoffs!

Start pulling for whomever plays Seattle now and the Rams after Sunday. With division not in our own hands, and 5 seed looking likely, Saints want to play indoors in St. Louis Wildcard weekend rather than at Seattle in Jan.

Don't they play the same schedule as the rest of the NFC South, except for 2 opponents?
Posted on 12/9/10 at 12:58 pm to shel311
i'm probably in the minority here, but if the Saints keep the 5 seed, i would rather them play seahawks than rams.
Posted on 12/10/10 at 9:05 am to pirt
I agree. I think the Seahawks are the weaker of the two. Rams have a better D, RB, QB. I'll take either game though. frick it. It's the playoffs. We should be able to beat anyone come that time.
