But Sean has embellished this over the years. He was never shy about trading up to get his guy, so if you felt that strongly about Pat, you go get him. You don’t sit back and say well I’m happy if I come away with him or lattimore

They had Mahomes and Lattimore graded pretty much the same.

You don’t grade a franchise QB and CB the same
Most NFL FOs would choose a good starting QB over even an all pro CB.
So again if you truly believed Mahomes was that dude, you go get him. You don’t simply say you’re good with either. This is why I think Sean is full of shite on this story and I’m still a Payton fan

We knew this already. I was so excited and then kc shows up on the clock. If we get Mahomet, payton is still here and we are going ro more super bowls. Instead, we have reverted back to what we used to be. An afterthought of a team and city.

it was reported THAT NIGHT that the Saints were targeting and likely taking Mahomes with their pick, but the Chiefs traded up and picked him first.....

Reported by who? No team tells people who they plan to draft. There were rumors and Mahomes apparently told KC he was hearing from other teams but the horseshite part is Payton really wanted him. Well it’s either horseshite or him saying he’s an idiot. This guy traded back into the first to get a RB, Ingram, he traded up for project DE but somehow he was just going to sit pat and if a QB he thought was the “best prospect he’s every seen” draft him?
