Wonder what all those F schools have in common? Certain segment needs to change their culture, and with the quickness. But we know it ain't happening when everyone is scared to speak the truth.

The school and learning environment improve dramatically overnight.
I have always said they need some kind of game where the bottom performing students are slowly removed from school as the year goes on.

The problem is that early on, well-meaning educators identify “at-risk” students. They get them IEPs that are supposed to get them extra help and resources to allow them to do better. But, a student with an IEP is now protected from consequences of poor behavior. The schools are now stuck with them, no matter how horrendously they behave.

2nd worst performing school in the parish for 2023. I wonder why nobody was lining up to enroll their kids?
The downfall of Broadmoor High School is tragic. Thru the mid-80's that place and all of the feeder elementary and junior high schools that fed it were utopia. Same for Baker. And the shame of it is, schools like Capital, Glen Oaks, McKinley and even Scotlandville, while not bastions of educational greatness, were in much better shape then as well.
Thanks Judge Parker.

You want to fix public education in Louisiana? Tie welfare benefits to standardized testing for each kid.
Gov. Snyder tried to do this in Michigan in the early 2010's. There was a special ed stipulation in it and thousands of single moms tried to get their kids diagnosed and flooded the Healthcare system.

You can’t hire shite teachers and employ fresh out of college with a masters degree administration folks and expect a school to work.
I know this board loathes teachers with time off/pay but until the pay becomes something where it’s hard to get employed as a teacher, schools will continue to be shite

There are 24 charter schools in Baton Rouge. They get more money per student than the public schools do thanks to Bobby Jindal.
There is one named Inspire. One named Idea.
There are some that is linked to a company in Florida that owns charter schools all over.
After being curious about how the charter schools work (because there was one built close to where I live and the parking lot is filled with cars, seems like a lot of kids go there and I don't know anyone who sends their kid there or who works there, etc) I did some research. They are not allowed in every parish, but I forgot how many there are in the state, but I estimated that maybe 10% of them are legit (when I say legit I mean they were started truly for educational purposes, etc).

Would make a good replacement for the juvenile prison.
Or at least they can maybe house 17 year olds there since EBRPP won’t take them: The Advocate

Charter Schools are non-profit but look at the students as a $2,500/head "profit margin".

I'm shocked to learn that the black community in under privileged areas don't give a single frick about education and also education in a fancy new building with new computers and facilities and stuff

I can buy you new books, take you to school but I can't make you learn.

I know someone closely associated with these 3 Idea schools.
Most of the kids get out of mommy’s car reeking of marijuana. The “families” don’t GAF, and most of the teachers view themselves as babysitters. They are given resources ((teaching materials) that stay in the shipping boxes.
The few kids that could thrive are swimming upstream against a torrent.

Simply remove the students who are causing problems. Send them all to “reform” schools. Essentially prisons. If parents have a problem with it, they should raise their children better.
Can’t. ‘Equity’ lawsuits. See Delta Charter in Ferriday.
