It doesn't really make sense for a space faring race to use these objects. It would likely be very crude compared to the technology available a civilization capable of putting something like that out there.
Yes but you wouldn't send a link to a website to a civilization that's signing the Declaration of Independence in the 1700s either. You would send something more apt to be understood.

Any specific questions about what I typed? I'd be happy to explain. This object comes closer to Earth than Mars does.

That would be great if it was some intergalactic being's turd and we are going nuts over it

I think it's an interstellar survey beacon

I think it’s a rock. But I’m 100% behind it being studied more closely.

That's interesting. The object is moving faster than I realized. It may be a while.

1. It was basically just siting in interstellar space and our galaxy passed through it. This has never been observed before.
That is not what the article implied. My goodness.
quote:
2. Most objects in space are round due to effects of gravity. Not Oumuamua
For bodies made mainly of rock, the minimum size to become a self-gravitating sphere is about 600km diameter; but, for bodies mainly made of ice, the minimum size is about 400km diameter. Oumuamua is nowhere near big enough to be spherical.
quote:
3. We don’t know what it’s made of, but it’s very shiny
Oumuamua was not in the solar system long enough for its makeup to be analyzed. However, its reddish albedo hints at iron that was possibly exposed to oxygen at some point in its past.
quote:
4. When it passed close to our sun it changed trajectory in a manner that is not consistent with any natural process we know of
That's bold speculation. There are certainly natural explanations, including the one illustrated in the article, that the outgassing was pure water.
quote:
5. This movement may be consistent with an artificial solar sail. A interstellar “message in a bottle” maybe?
Again, speculation only. While the tumbling of Oumuamua indicates a possible pancake shape for the object, that's far from being a light sail that is pushed by solar winds.
The artist's rendition is not necessarily precise. We know that Oumuamua is much longer than it is wide but that's about it. Regrettably, there are no photos of the object.
We also know that it didn't originate in our solar system, does not emit any radiation of any kind and is silent, meaning there are no radio waves coming from it.
Its dark red color resembles that of objects in the outer solar system, giving credence to the notion that it was ejected from its native system at a high velocity, Even at its high rate of speed, 94,800 km/h, it will take 20,000 years for it to leave our solar system.

I’m not going to argue every point that you make, ill just say that your are contradicting a lot of scientists.
I’ll pick one argument for now. You say that it changed trajectory because of outgassing. This was already considered and found to be false...

Oumuamua could have originated by cometary outgassing if at least a tenth of its mass evaporated. But such massive evaporation would have naturally led to the appearance of a cometary tail, and none was seen. The Spitzer telescope observations also place tight limits on any carbon-based molecules or dust around ‘Oumuamua and rule out the possibility that normal cometary outgassing is at play (unless it is composed of pure water). Moreover, cometary outgassing would have changed the rotation period of ‘Oumuamua, and no such change was observed.

I'm not contradicting scientists. Rather, I'm finding fault with your bold interpretations of what they're saying.
Also, I did not say it changed direction because of outgassing. It changed direction because of the sun's gravity and increased its speed because of the slingshot effect of that gravity. The author of the article said
He also said
"(Unless it is composed of pure water)" is a distinct possibility. Water is far more common than once thought.
My main point is that we shouldn't expound too much upon the limited information we have about Oumuamua. It was headed away from the sun before it was even detected. Even the information garnered from the cursory inspection of the object is sketchy. It will remain a mystery because we don't have enough interest in pursuing it during its long journey through our solar system.

quote:
The trajectory of ‘Oumuamua deviated from that expected based on the sun’s gravity alone. The deviation is small (a tenth of a percent) but highly statistically significant.

Go back and read the quote again. The wording is a little funky, but it’s not implying what you are saying
quote:

That means something OTHER THAN gravity caused the change.
They did admit it could be outgassing, but they did not see a comet tail which they would normally see with outgassing. So there has been no proof of outgassing.
Posted on 3/20/19 at 9:25 pm to WaWaWeeWa
I’m sure with a galactic dookie of that size there was a lot of out gassing going on.

Its fricking aliens. Of course it is.
The universe is so large, we cannot actually comprehend it. It is truly unfathomable.
And in this unbelievably large universe, we, human beings, are the smartest creatures living? Really?
Human hubris to the fricking max.
Aliens exist. If you don't actually believe this, you are a fricking moron.
Human hubris....like climate change. Morons. Morons everywhere.....So many.......
