Within three days of taking over LSU, System President William F. Tate IV already has begun rearranging the top leadership at the state’s flagship.

Executive Vice President & Provost Stacia Haynie, LSU's de facto second in command, was removed from the position Thursday

quote:

“Setting us on a new, strategic direction may sometimes require that we seek a fresh start in certain areas,” Tate wrote faculty and staff. “It is not meant to imply that things aren’t going well in those areas. In fact, there may be many positive things happening that we can and should continue to build on while also going in a different direction.”

That didn't take long.

What he meant to say:

“Setting us on a new, strategic direction may sometimes require that we seek a fresh start in certain areas,” Tate wrote faculty and staff. “It is not meant to imply that things aren’t going well in those areas. In fact, there may be many positive things happening, but she is white, I'll get a minority hire that we can and should continue to build on while also going in a different direction.”

I mean, she probably sucked at her job if she was 2nd in command for Fking. But yeah, definitely not the right shade to keep her job now.

A. I agree with yall

But...

B. Let's wait and see who he puts in that spot before we bitch. This dude is 99% guaranteed to be a shite show. But LSU wasn't exactly kicking arse before he was hired. Let's hold out that 1% of hope that he shocks everyone and does something good. TBH. If I was rolling into the crap show that is LSU in the last five years, I would wreck house in my first week too.

This x1000. I'm worried about Tate's past but LSU's recent past leadership has been astoundingly bad. If I were him, the firings wouldn't stop here as he needs to clean house.

I’m curious on who Her successor will be but she was/is part of the problem with the direction of LSU. I guarantee that she hates most of us worse who represent what academia views as a problem aka…Conservative

I mean, this isn't an unusual thing for a new president to install the staff he wants. However, we all know who/what kind of people he's going to put in place and I couldn't be happier about it.

I’ve had numerous meetings and casual conversations with Stacia Haynie over the years. She has been nothing less than an incredible joy to work with. Stacia is a HUGE fan of LSU and loves the university almost to a fault. She cares deeply about the students and faculty.

Stacia isn’t the problem at LSU. Their BoS is complete dogshite corrupt, the previous president gave ZERO fricks about anything other than politics, and the university has lost a ton of talented people due to budget cuts and salary issues on campus.

Stacia was a calming force on campus for all of 2020. I do agree with y’all though. I hope this isn’t the only change up in leadership
