Do any of y'all go to AA/NA/CR meetings or worked the steps?

Sitting in one now and just curious if any of y'all attend them? I got out of treatment in November last year and have been going to meetings basically nonstop since and theyve been pretty beneficial for me. Hell if a day goes by and I haven't been to one it feels like somethings off.
I'm working the steps but still on four, I started dragging my feet on it and making excuses which is drawing it out. My sponsor is really in depth with it too but he's great.
I've met tons of people in these meetings and got lots of numbers of people I can call. If any of you are struggling with substance abuse (any, not just alcohol) I definitely encourage you to give the meetings a shot. Nobody can keep you sober but you but being in a community of people who understand what you're going through and have been there done that is extremely helpful.
Also just my opinion I wish they didn't separate AA and NA. Half the people in AA are there for something other than alcohol. Imo combine them and keep the AA name but have it stand for Addicts Anonymous and that would cover everyone. The steps are the same.

Any time I have a meeting, it's usually at a bar.

Been clean and sober 45 years now. My life goes a whole lot better when I attend meetings and continue to work the steps.

My addiction that I battle to contain is not one of those mentioned, but does have its own group. I think it works for some people, but for me, with my addiction, I just have had to confront it head-on and handle it on my own. I'm lucky I have a great support system of friends that I can talk to about it, as well, and that hold me accountable.
I don't think there's anything in one of those meetings or that a therapist can say that would actually help me. It can help some for sure and I'm a proponent of therapy, but I don't think it would help me, specifically.
I haven't been perfect, but I'm 1000x better than I was during my lowest points.

Turned my cousins life around big time.

The most depressing cult in America.
I understand that it works for some people, but it was the absolute last thing I wanted to do when I got sober. Plus, it's full of people who just network to get drugs.

What's your DOC if you feel comfortable saying?

Were you jerking it 10 times a day?

Ah gotcha. Man even with that maybe try meetings and getting a sponsor and working the steps. I think doing the step work would be good for everyone, not just us addicts. But I can definitely see it being helpful for a gambling addiction. An addiction is an addiction, no matter if it's gambling or doing shots of fent.

I've been sober for more than 27 years this time around. You can't go wrong going to meetings and working the steps (especially the first 3).
Best wishes to all who battle addiction of any kind.

Oh and if anybody is interested in going to a meeting but not sure when or where to go there's an app called Meeting Guide (the icon to it is a chair) and it tells you all the meetings around you, when and where to go, if it's an open meeting or not (most are, that just means if you can talk about drugs other than alcohol in it. I think closed meeting are ridiculous), and if it's some kind of special meeting like a Big Book study etc.

I seen/heard a lot of people introduce themselves as an alcoholic and an addict.
That's a helluva a thing to lie about so chances are they aren't lying.
They aren't going to remove anyone from a meeting for that.

Definitely. They aren't going to remove anyone for sure and lots of narcotics addicts go to AA instead of NA and it works just fine. I'm an alcoholic and an addict but I haven't had a desire to have a drink in years because my DOC changed. I go to AA meetings and lots of other addicts do as well because the steps and program is the same, that's why I think AA and NA should just be combined (because they essentially already are) and call it Addicts Anonymous.
