QuizUp is one of the most addicting games I've ever played. Just trivia on a bunch of different categories.

I don't know if you would use this or not but some people might. It's called Fing and when your device is on a wifi network it will show you all devices that are connected to that wifi network.

I have used it a lot when I go out to program lighting systems. The main brain of the system has to have an ip address set and if you set the same address as something out there already it will conflict. So the first thing I do is connect to the customers wifi to see what ip addresses are taken up.

Another good app to me is called iMap Weather Radio. It's 9.99 in the app store but you can fine tune it for all types of weather. Being in the south I don't really have to use snow warnings and all that (never know though) but it's good for tornado warnings and watches, etc.

If you need an app to do this, you are doing it wrong..

Not really.

When we first go to do a walkthrough at a customer's home we take a notepad to make notes and write down what will need to be ordered (if anything). At that time I pull my app up and within 5 seconds I'm able to see what ip addresses are taken up. I write that down with my notes and then I'm ready to build my program at home or at the office. So I'd say I'm doing it a quick easy way to get the info I need.
