Soooo many of you Baton Rouge WASP's seem ripe for the picking for these megachurches. Make sure you stop by the reverse ATM's at the front to get your tithes rolling in. The pastor needs a new plane.

In hindsight the biggest errors were the assumption that the families from Ascension that went to the church/had kids at their school- would be ok with their high school kids going all the way to BR for school. Additionally believing the existing families from Christian Life would buy into a different culture of church/school. There really weren’t the necessary relationships built to sustain the trust needed to buy into that change.

These are mega churches? I haven't seen anything that looks like a ATM.

I do see where there is a lot of money being spent on helping people that a money grubbing preacher would want to keep.

So with them taking a cut off the tithes, do they continue to provide support to that church?

Yea

So in Mark’s case, he is (or at least was up until a few years ago) a stickler for what is preached/taught.

He writes the sermon and disseminates it to all the franchised churches and the local owner MUST preach approved messages. Same with the music.

When I say it’s like a McDonald’s, I mean it. Just like you have to serve a McDonald’s Menu with their support and guidance, it’s the same with these churches.

If a pastor goes rogue with unapproved sermons, he’s fired immediately.

Caveat: I don’t know if HPC is this strict, I know Mark’s church is (or at least used to be recently)

Yes it was. Dr. Melilli was going under for sure. I just didn't like the vibe Stermer and "The Church" people gave so we left.

I blame him for the shirt untucking phase that took Baton Rouge by storm. We still haven't recovered.
