I have a 92 Isuzu Trooper that may be the best vehicle I've ever seen.

It's got around 325,000 miles on it as close as I can guess, because the speedometer chain was broken for a while.

I put a new set of tires on and a new battery in it on the same day in 2018. I may have driven it 500 miles after that.
The battery died after a couple of years, and I haven't started it since then, until today.

I put a fresh battery in it and turned it over for about 3 seconds and it fired right up. It was running a bit ragged at first, but it smoothed right out.
I put some air in all the tires and checked all the fluid levels and drove it around a few miles. Other than needing some exhaust work, it's good to go. It's not smoking even a little bit, transmission shifting like a new one. 4wheel drive working exactly as it should.

It came from the factory with the 2.8 Chevy V6 with throttle body fuel injection and HEI ignition. From the flywheel to the wheels everything appears to be the same as a Toyota Tacoma.

So you’re saying it’s a real trooper?

Yeah, for sure. Think I'm going to spend a bit of time on it over the winter.
The AC needs fixing and it could use a good camo paint job.

I have a friend who put close to 450,000 miles on one. I'm convinced he'd still be driving it daily if a deer hadn't ran out in front of him three or four years ago.

Put a battery tender on it, put some Sta-Bil in the tank and run it to operating temperature with the heater wide open once a month.

It'll last forever, assuming it's garaged.

Auburn fan, I see.

Make sure you open the garage door when you run it.

LOL I bought it new, and this thing has never seen the inside of a garage.

I'll see if I can do that tomorrow, after I get some of the pine tree sap off of it.

Sun will kill it.

All the rubber and plastic will deteriorate.

Sell it and make some money.

Yeah. Isuzu’s ran forever and were easy to fix. We’ve had five in our family since 1995. We’ve only been without one for a couple of years. And the last year they made them was 2004.

They used the Chevy engines and just like all Chevys they go through oil. But if you stayed on top of that, they’d keep going.

Not at all. Only 1 small spot on the post( about the size of a quarter) right behind the rear driver's side door, because the XS badge held a little moisture.

Like I said above, I will try to do that tomorrow after I knock some of the sap off of it.

It never has been an oil user so far. Maybe a little if I was driving 80 on the interstate a few hundred miles.

That’s awesome, love those. I’ve seen a couple of them running around town always do a double take and admire them.

Just good, solid, simple vehicles built to take tough conditions.

I have a 2001 Land Cruiser with 216,000 miles. Replaced the starter and spark plugs. Runs great. Slow as hell and gets shite mpg but I love it.
