The truly sad part is that people like this who think they've found Jesus but continue living like they were before.

He’s fat, who gives a shite? I doubt he can do anything during sex except lay there. The idea his wife wasn’t already sleeping around on him is hilarious.

The fact that either one of those guys could be newsworthy says a lot about why this country is doomed.

I mean they are both some of the most genuine people in the music industry if you have ever listened to an interview or podcast of theirs.

They are both fairly talented, too, and have a number of hit records.

There is outrage over her "hall pass" but the fact that she was a hooker before she met Jelly is ok......... lol people these days.

Sounds like a perfectly healthy and idyllic marriage betwixt a "reformed" felon with a past of violence and drug dealing married to a former prostitute that is okay with the idea of having sex with other men.

Simply looking at the surface I don't see what could possibly go wrong.

See him around town and from talking to other parents at baseball games he is very well liked in the community. Had a bit of a troubled past and made some poor decisions but seems to be on right path. He does a lot of good for the area beyond what the news reports. The one thing that keeps coming up is how he is a genuinely nice person who will do anything for anyone. Never met him so I dunno, but I will say at least they own who they are. Can’t tell you how many double life living fricks I have heard about back in Lake Charles in the last couple years.

He’s the final product of country culture co-opting black culture for years. Fancy trucks with big rims, gold chains, Morgan Wallen calling his boys the n word in an endearing way.

In other words, he’s yet another sign that Country Music is dead.

Considering he is a former drug dealer, has battled addiction, is taking action to help fight drug addictions of all types. I imagine the last thing he will want to do is take a new drug to help his battle with obesity and then be concerned about potential addictions to that drug.

You could not be more wrong. Ozempic is not an addictive drug like that, and is even being researched as a drug to help alcoholics in recovery. I’m an alcoholic with 11 months sober, and the same doctor that prescribed me Naltrexone for alcohol cravings now prescribes me Ozempic for weight management due to sugar cravings as an alcohol substitute.

I don’t know enough about Jelly Roll, but if he’s an actual addict, saying he’s “cut back on drinking” is not “taking action.” There is no middle ground with addicts. Alcoholics and addicts are, by definition, incapable of moderation with substances. It is impossible. It’s either or. It’s literally BEFORE chapter 1 in the Big Book. 1 drink is too many and 1000 drinks is never enough.

The dude is full of shite if he says he’s taking action on addiction by “cutting back.” That just means he switched from liquor to beer, or that he’s just flat out lying.

I can see where my statement is being misunderstood. In no way am I saying Ozempic is an addictive drug. But you can imagine the hesitation from a guy like Jelly Roll to take a drug to fix one problem when one of the main points of his Congressional hearing was the number of people who became addicted to opioids because they were using it to help them while trying to fix a problem. So naturally, he would be hesitant, maybe even reluctant, to take anything to fix his problem.

I agree 100% about the you don't fix your alcohol addiction by cutting back, or changing from hard liquor to beer.

I’m not certain he is focused on taking action for himself as much as helping others. Maybe he actually is cutting back on his drinking bc I have heard some stories at a few of the local watering holes and it’s hard to believe anyone would still be alive if they kept doing what he was doing. I think he is just a weed and alcohol guy and is using his resources to help people with opioid addictions and stuff. I think he probably understands he is an alcoholic and it is what it is at this point.

All I know is, I have been warned that if Jelly Roll shows up and you got shite to do the next morning, then it’s probably best to go home.

Well, alcohol does affect people differently. I know kids in their 20s who got alcoholic hep, and I know old timers who still drink a fifth a day and have had no major liver complications.

I mean we’re obviously way off track from OP but all the addictions (opioids, meth, cocaine, alcohol, benzos), they’re all related. The only difference is their drug of choice. But it’s all mind altering substances that will ruin you one way or another. I don’t think you can help others with addiction if you yourself are using. There’s a reason rehabs test every single faculty member once a week for any substance and have a zero tolerance policy.

Also, we’re mostly a bunch of guys from Louisiana so we don’t see it this way, but I’d argue alcohol is the worst one, simply because it’s so socially acceptable. I.E., I would never want to be an alcoholic in recovery living in NOLA.

I don't care for his music, but he seems like a stand up guy. I love a good redemption story.

Yea I’m not sure what his intentions are. It just comes off as he wanted to cut back on alcohol consumption for health reasons, but isn’t wanting to ever give it up. He is happy with where he is at now with it.

As far as helping others I think he just gives money and makes appearances. Not like sitting down with them having therapy sessions or anything.

Agreed way off topic and I’ll let it go now lol

I don’t really know much about Jellg Roll so can’t say one way or another. I was surprised to finally hear how talented a Post Malone based off of him looking like a jail bird.
