What are those right of ways they are making going to be for?
Do they have anything to do with the crane set up on the west side on I-55 before you get to LaPlace?

Just blow the damn levees and let the MS flow where it wants already.

It's called the levee for St John Parish.

And to Greenhead22 above--the levee is for the lake, not the river.

Well I can’t imagine it being a very structurally sound levee. All they used was river silt.

Actually very curious to see how well that one works.

And they need to do us a favor and cut a run from moonshine straight south to Dulac.

The water has to go somewhere, humans involved only complicates matters, especially in South Louisiana. Louisiana isn’t The Netherlands, if I lived south of the lake I’d always have distrust when it comes to the government telling me about flood control when it comes to storm surge.

Late last year or early this year when they cleared the side that's closest to the Lake, I would often see deer running through the clearing right before I got on I-55 Northbound.

Dickheadaroos,,, Exactly why am I a nosey little fricker for wondering what my tax dollars are being spent on??
I have lots of money invested in something this levee may affect.

If the MS River was allowed to flow where it wanted it would be a crushing blow to the United States economy

Once again a waste of money. Instead, there should be a levee and flood control structure at the Rigolets to keep storm surge from entering Lake Pontchartrain in the first place. It would remain open, allowing for tidal flow and then closed when a storm approaches. Mind blowing that we haven’t done this.

I was told by the Corp that a flood control structure @ the Rigolets was in the works.

that map is the one.

The overall project name is WSLP...West Shore Lake Pontchartrain. Right now it is simply a maze of access roads that will enable people to get to the actual construction of the levee that is just now beginning to be built. I believe there is a pump station included in this overall project.
