I think a house boat would be awesome. Or even better, building an entire living area on an old barge!

Was wanting one like this, but due to my health, it's not going to happen.

I'd definitely like a liveaboard. We've recently moved to a condo on the harbor, and the wife is opening up to an idea of getting a liveaboard when re retire to sail around the area.

Temporarily, for touring purposes? Absolutely.

Permanently? No.

Already bought our small retirement home in our 40s. Now time to save and prepare for post retirement travel. Have a small pull behind camper now. Will upsize later.

i lived in one for a few years travelling and working. 5th wheeler or camper would be way better. motor homes are way more expensive to upkeep than people think.

My old neighbors did this. The bought a badass motorhome, sold their house and hit the road.

I will be traveling in the RV quite a bit more than I do now, but I don't want to live in permanently.

Gonna hit the Grand Canyon, California, etc.

Might stop in Archer City, TX as well.

As an RV owner and one that uses it often... HELL NO.

Things are a pain in the fricking arse and no fun to drive. At all.

Man, I don't find that to be the case.

I had to learn to slow down, but I never found it all that tough.
People (other drivers) do suck, though.

Yes, am planning to do something similar.

A couple of years ago we met a couple in Florida who was doing that very thing, for 5 years already. They had children all over the country and were basically traveling between their children's places year round.

They would stay some places for a month to two months, pay bills online, have mail held and sent to them regularly. Sounds like a lifestyle that could work if you wanted to.

They had a diesel truck with their 5th wheel, so they could park it and move around easier.
