Man, I agree it is not a very impactful action. But it does appease minority concerns regarding the celebration of segregationist leaders.

LSU’s highest rate of growth has been seen in minority enrollment. LSU is no longer a majority state funded school...they need tuition dollars to survive more than ever. You can’t ostracize a growing revenue stream

How about YOU shut the frick up, you little bitch.

Your shame game doesn’t work on me. I’m Not WOKE because my eyes are open.

This isn’t about racism, or being offended, or anything of substance. This is about idiotic whites tripping over themselves to seem not racist and opportunistic people seeing how far they can push them and how much ground they can get them to give. This is a cultural retreat and the attacking progressive army killing as much as they can.

But I, I will not kneel. I refuse to be subjugated, whatever you might label me.

I will not bend the knee. Grow a pair.

You little wimple willed bitch.

This. If party A constantly justifies giving in to party B by reason of "it's really not that big of a deal", then party B is empowered to seek more and more. Somebody already made the child tantrum analogy and it's spot on.

Sometimes we have to make decisions on principle even when it isn't the popular thing to do and it sucks that we aren't seeing any of that from our businesses and institutions.

And so now the majority of donations will come from people of color? Since they obviously don’t want the money of us evil white devils since at some point in the past someone might have said something deemed racist by modern standards

The library was built by the state dumbass.

My understanding is most of these frick-tards are Jon Bell Edwards appointees. Thanks to all you assholes who voted for that a-hole.

LSU announced it publicly in March 2019

But the effort began in 2016...

Correct. The effort/back-end began then. Strategic Plan wasn't launched until Fall 2017, priority implementation and funding mechanisms weren't put in place until 2018.

LSU is subject to a policy that does not allow them to announce the campaign until at least half of the fund has been raised.

That isn't a policy. It's just a general rule of thumb in campaigns. But LSU launched at about 38% to goal.

LSU had $750M in commitments In 2016 and struggled to bring that number up to $900M By March 2020

Wrong. A similar topic was brought up a year ago when his racist letters were found.

Any new Library was going to be renamed regardless.

Just saw this on Twitter

quote:

. @LouisianaGov is speaking to the LSU Board of Supervisors, encouraging them to strip the Middleton name off the library. "In 2020 and going forward, LSU students shouldn’t be studying in a library named after someone who didn’t want them to be LSU students." #lalege #lagov

Tax payers- both black & white. But him assuming that white peoples funded it solely is wrong.

STOP appeasing people just because they yell loudly...

Please don't be obtuse and pretend like you don't understand that the only reason minority enrollment has grown the way it has is because university leadership wanted it to. They wanted to be able to slap "most diverse class in LSU history" on their brochures, and they did. Their enrollment would be just fine even if they admitted all students based on merit and regardless of demographics. Unfortunately, actual equality is viewed as prejudice and/or racism.

So demolish the old eyesore that is Middleton and build a new, better library. Name it after great LSU alumni. Name it after Burrow.

But there’s no reason to kowtow now and basically make a show of pissing all over middletons corpse just to please the woke crowd.

Just announce that it will be demolished in the near future and there will be a new library with a new name.

Have some nuance and understanding that times and people change and that just because they lived in a different past doesn’t make them evil. It makes them human

The funds were raised by Middleton soliciting the LA Legislature in 1956. I believe the legislatures of that time were dubbed a “segregationist assembly” Which might provide the best defense of Middleton.

That he was simply speaking the language he needed to speak in order to get the library built...

That’s not what I meant at all. I’m pointing out the hypocrisy of them taking “white people” money then turning around and spitting on their memory and denigrating them and their contributions because they weren’t “woke enough” by today’s insane standards.

Galligan just said in the meeting that minority tuition deposits have grown by 22% (AA) and 25% (Latino) year over year.

You don’t spit in the eye of a customer. And standing idly by would have been seen as such.

They tried but there simply is no historical tradition of strong financial support by alumni. They were swimming upstream
