I usually only use e15 from Racetrack.
Sometimes I'll mix 93 octane and e85 to get e40-50.
(100+ octane)

For Techron ( or any good additive) to work effectively it must be used on a consistent basis.
The amount of detergents in the fuel are miniscule, but are very efficient when used consistently.
I think manually adding Seafoam would likely be more expensive than just using the better product.

Team Kirkland over here. Mostly because needing a membership and not selling lottery tickets, fake weed and bath salts helps me to spend just a little less time amongst the trashy.

I use to deliver gas. Phillip 66 was the only gas that I loaded at the Phillips 66 terminal and unloaded at Phillips 66 station. Always. Every other branded gas (Exon, BP, Loves, Walmart, etc.) came from the same plants. Just depended on if they had allocations (pre bought fuel) from that terminal

I remember Amoco white gas would substitute for Coleman fuel.
Telling your age. I've heard of old drunks drinking it

Is there a difference in shell or chevron higher marked up gasoline vs sams or a quick stop etc. I’ve heard the latter is shite then I heard there is no difference other than a little additive at the end
Top Tier Gas is a thing and some manufacturers recommend it.
Keeps your engine cleaner.
Costco sells Top Tier gas, so I go there cause its cheaper anyway

This
In most cases petrol comes from a common point just prior to reaching the end user. Any fuel being cleaner burning or performance enhancing is a fallacy perpetrated by Shell/Exxon/ etc...
They just put some additives in and make some snake oil claims.

The owner of my shop recommends only getting gas from the big name brand guys. Also don't get gas from some hole in the wall covered up with vape stickers. He says that most gas contamination issues they see if from people buying at discount places.

Why is this rocket science? If you buy gas from a place that generates revenue mostly off of fried chicken and taquitos, do we think there's less gas turnover than at a Buccee's, a Shell at a an intersection off of I-10, a Racetrac, etc.?
I've bought ice and water at plenty of shitehole stations in Texas, but I don't buy gas there. I hit the QT, Sam's, etc. for fuel. This does feel like a problem nobody actually has, but hears about.

The ONLY contribution I have is don't get hung up on an Octane number. Use the fuel that your vehicle manual suggests using......there is a reason when they say use a certain grade.
If you look, an Infiniti and Nissan make the same larger SUV. Same motor. The Infiniti says to use Premium the Nissan, regular. They do this a the Infiniti gets 15 mpg, the Nissan, 14 mpg. Cars now, have a chip that adjusts the timing to keep it from knocking. Much of the same with Lexus and Toyota, all Lexus say to use Premium, all but two Toyota's use Regular unleaded.

When they stooped selling White Gas I used to burn regular in my Coleman Lantern. Before they came out with unleaded. The lead would clog the “generator” on the lantern but it worked fine for .26 cents a gallon gas.

For diesel, the only way to go is Citgo.

The exact same refineries provide the same exact gas to the mom and pops just like the same fuel that goes into racetracks.
It’s funny how people think this is some how different.
The refineries are giving them the same fuel as everyone else

Regular/Ethyl
This is one of my favorite dumb answer rounds on Family Feud fast money thanks to the internet that clip always pays in my mind of not what to say. The first guy when asked to name an animal with three letters says frog. Then on the third question says regular when asked to name a brand of Gasoline. The fourth question was name something that comes with a summer storm, he says snow.
Fast forward to the next contestant, he says alligator for an animal with 3 letters and Ethyl for a brand of gasoline.
Enjoy:

I work for Chevron. Chevron with Techron is the real deal.

Phillips 66, it's always been Phillips 66.

For lack of better terms, what you know as base gasoline is mixed together at most terminals. The additives are added in the end after truckers either swipe a card or a code. It's fascinating, almost sounds like a ping pong ball getting sucked into a vacuum when it's injected.
Dad ran distribution for Citgo for several years, 1st the North East out of NOLA and then the entire continental network out of West Memphis. He used to say it all comes out of the same pipeline just the additives differ for delivery. I have collectibles from podunk distributors all over the nation from the cutesy freebies (currently use a nail file from Roberts, Illinois wherever that is).

I know with some Toyota engines. It has more hp and better mpg with 92 over 87. The Tacoma even says it in the manual.
Generally higher octane is only necessary with high compression engines. But most cars can adjust timing based on octane.
Still if you have a super charger or turbo 93 is better best yet is to run e85 if possible. Some cars you need to modify things to take pure e85.
