In a heavy downpour you can’t always see the vehicle in front of you, so hazards help with that.

No, taillights help with that.

taillights are not hazards, so it should not be confusing.

I'm aware of the difference, there is no confusion Sherlock. I said taillights are easier to see in a down pour than hazards. You think you're helping with hazards but you're not.

All depends on the rain. For a regular rain, absolutely. However, rule of thumb is when your wipers can't keep up with the rain when they are full speed hazards lights are recommended.

frick off. Hazards are for when your vehicle is disabled and can't move. Nobody needs you to turn your hazards on to tell them it is raining, we know. It prevents you from signaling lane changes and disables or diminishes brake light function both making you more dangerous on the road. If you, the driver, are a hazard in the rain pull the frick over and put your hazards on but stay out of the road with that blinky blink bullshite.

I'm not a little girl so I don't pull over. I'm also not an arrogant prick so I put my flashers on for others safety. They don't help me drive better they are for others.

You are a fricking idiot and doubling down of being wrong. For fricks sake we can all see it is raining.

Oh, and it's illegal.

I don't necessarily disagree with the OP's primary complaint, but I challenge anyone to show me what law makes using your hazard lights in the rain is illegal. And no, the statute for emergency vehicle flashing lights does not and has never covered this. Heavy rain is considered a "vehicular traffic hazard requiring unusual care".

I'd appreciate being educated if I'm incorrect regarding no statute making hazard lights illegal in the rain. I'm referring to actual, factual law, not emotional karenesque, pearl clutching thoughts on whether you agree with the practice or not.

I wonder who is going to volunteer that their uncle, wife or hairdresser was ticketed and convicted of this...

Louisiana State Police post

Interesting they cannot/will not cite the law they're referring to. Maybe because there is not a law for this? The emergency vehicle lights law does not cover hazard lights.

To be clear. You’re saying the official state police outlet is wrong?

So a FB post from police actually creates a law? Because even they cannot cite the law regarding hazard lights in the rain.

However, per the statue in Louisiana, rain is not a valid hazard in and of itself, for use of flashing lights.

Really? Which statue is that, referring to hazard lights?
