Tell them they can get 300 bucks from you or send it to collections for peanuts. If they scoff you can pay it.

Or, you can spend 300 bucks filing a wildly frivolous constructive eviction and nuisance claim, just make sure you include a fraudulent allegation of ingesting mold spores or something.

If you didn't give notice as required by the lease, then you officially went into holdover. Just be thankful it isn't at 150 to 200% (typical). MTM holdover isn't the same thing as a MTM agreement or lease. Just pay it and learn from your mistake.

The new owners can't tell you what the former owners meant. The former owner should have told you if you owed any money when you moved out.

If they did not notify you then they agreed to "forgive" any amount owed.
