Maybe those bigger heavy duty plastics are not leaching shite.
or maybe they have more nanoplastics abound...

Ive got more bad news for you...even if you avoid the plastic leached from plastic bottles, tap water is full of contaminants and hormones(get into the water supply after being passed from women on BC). You can probably draw a direct line from the time periods of oral contraceptive and plastic bottles and the increase of feminized men

The International Bottled Water Association said in a statement: “There currently is both a lack of standardized (measuring) methods and no scientific consensus on the potential health impacts of nano- and microplastic particles. Therefore, media reports about these particles in drinking water do nothing more than unnecessarily scare consumers.”

Who knew there was a Big Plastic Water Bottle lobbying entity?

I can only imagine the invisible nano shite in the water we drank for the last 5,000 years.

You know what water never touched plastic storage containers? Tap

Except when it sits in your plastic water lines for hours. Its definitely better to drink tap than plastic bottled water...but still cant escape the damn plastic

Researchers still can’t answer the big question: Are those nanoplastic pieces harmful to health?

“That’s currently under review. We don’t know if it’s dangerous or how dangerous,” said study co-author Phoebe Stapleton, a toxicologist at Rutgers. “We do know that they are getting into the tissues (of mammals, including people) … and the current research is looking at what they’re doing in the cells.”
I'll keep drinking bottled water until 27 years from now when someone bumps this thread with the results from this study.

Also should have stuck with paper bags instead of plastic at grocery stores

Not to derail, but there's an argument to be made that plastic bags are better for the environment:

A bag’s impact is more than just its associated carbon emissions: Manufacturing a paper bag requires about four times as much water as a plastic bag. Additionally, the fertilizers and other chemicals used in tree farming and paper manufacturing contribute to acid rain and eutrophication of waterways at higher rates.

It also takes more energy to make and transport paper bags. The downfall to plastic is that it take a long time to biodegrade but who cares if it's in a landfill. It came from the ground and now it's back in the ground. The real problem is 3rd world countries filling river beds with waste only to be washed into the ocean when the river rises. You're not benefiting the planet by opting for paper over plastic in the US unless you plan to throw your plastic bags into the river.

Yep.

Your only hope is to drink well water from isolated locations.

I've always thought bottled water was unhealthy, and I drink tap water in Old Metairie or wherever I am.

Ultimately, from a historical and global perspective our water is very safe.

As far as shite to worry about goes, it’s pretty low on my list.

That was my reaction as well. For all the hand wringing over potential contaminants in bottled water, it still (from a safety standpoint) beats the shite out of going down to the local lake with a bucket.

Just think about those nano particles from all the hoses

I don’t understand why we focus on eliminating burning fossil fuels for energy and instead focus on reducing other products that use petrochemicals that can be easily replaced without screwing up the economy

Because the materials used to make these products are byproducts of the refining of crude oil.

Hours versus weeks/months. Big difference.

I am old enough to remember when Paper Grocery bags were destroying the environment. Those plastic ones are far worse for us.

If you read the article, they have yet to determine if something that requires an electron microscope (actually more powerful?) to see is even harmful. They also do not know if the particles came from the plastic bottle or particles from the reverse osmosis filtering process used to "clean" particles from the water before bottling.

As bad as Journalism has gotten, assuming content from a headline is much worse.
