All facts
Playing outside prepared us for the real world better than an iPad and Tock Tick and all that other online shite. I'm in my 30's. The last generation that played outside everyday. That is me.

Could you imagine now a days these snowflakes not showing up for work?
Back then you showed up. No excuses.

Had to go to the library to look at cat pictures.

Smartphone? Hell, I was overjoyed with a flushing toilet.

I didn’t get a cell phone until 1993. Didn’t get a vcr until 83-84.
We were poor.

We used to rent the movie... and the VCR on which to watch it.

Never came inside until the street lights came on. Backyard ballgames were awesome.

That was a hell of a lot earlier than most people.

Absolutely wonderful. As a kid you could leave home in the morning and not come back till dark and NOBODY could get hold of you by simply hitting a button on a phone.
To this day I don't like cellphones and the only reason I have one is that I do travel out of state and on many backroads when I take road trips on my motorcycle. Then giving up the land line made it more of an everyday thing but I honestly don't think I make more than 30-40 calls a month, if that.

Some of the better road maps were the ones the approved map for a particular state that you'd get by stopping at that state's "travel center" at the first rest stop when you crossed into that state.

I do kind of miss planning the best route on road trips.
Parents probably knew the way, but they’d still let us feel like we were planning it out.

I wish so badly we could go back to the days of no smart phones and computers being something "fancy" that you couldn't even rely upon.
I had a great childhood where I, for the most part, just had a flip phone and then slide phone. I didn't need 100 apps on my phone, I didn't need the ability to text easily, my phone was mainly for making phone calls and that was totally fine with me.

Leaving on a road trip with the understanding that you could get stuck in BFE and had to manage the situation on your own. When “men” started relying on a smart phone to save them, test levels fell by half.
