What do you drive?

I realize we could just get a big SUV maybe, but honestly, after experiencing van life, I can't think of driving anything else while the kids are young. They are made to be far too convenient for young families.

Look for wear on brake pedal. Even though one has less mileage, it could be all city driving. If the 155,000 mile van was mostly highway miles, it will have less wear and tear on the engine, transmission, and brake system.

You can look at the front of the vehicle too. Paint chipping is usually a sign of highway driving too.

I’d look at both vehicles, and drive both before deciding. Listen to it when it’s cold and warmed up. How it shifts, does power steering whine, do belts look good, fluid look clean, etc.

You can tell a lot without even connecting a scanner, but yeah, in general lower mileage is better.
This is actually great advice. Thank you.

B. Miles are more important than age. Same for cars as for women.

If you want it to last a while and it's foreign verses domestic go foreign even if it costs more.

Cylinder deactivation can cause issues on those early model 3.5ls with the technology. If one had bypassed the cylinder deactivation I would give that one the upper hand. Also check for water pump and timing belt service. That 110k one might not have had it yet and will be part of the consideration.

With the limitted info you give, my inclination would be B. But to truly make a decision, I would need just a little more info:

1. Is one of the models the first year of a design change? If so I would avoid that one.

2. are all the features/packages the same?

3. Are the engines the same?

4. Have you checked the book value?

5. Carfax or VIN # check of some kind might make your decision for you.

I choose D.

As in sunny D. You'll need an ice chest full of it when you take that thing to soccer practice.

I'd pick the better condition, if condition is equal van B. Surprisingly 40k miles on a 8-10 year old car has very little impact on its price. Also if A has a bunch of major service work done on it that van B hasn't had done yet it might add to the decision.

Which brand? Another Honda?

Choose the one with fewer miles.

Take your mechanic car shopping with you. Let him decide which is the better option.
