Don't bees swarm where they form a docile ball of bees on a tree or something when they decide to leave a hive and start fresh somewhere else? I seem to remember hearing something about beekeeping ethics when it came to catching your neighbor's swarm and whether you should return the bees or offer him some compensation if you keep them.

They swam when they split hives. Half the hive and the old queen peace out and find another place to live. So you can’t return them to the previous hive, anyway.

Fun fact: North Dakota produces nearly three times as much honey as the next leading producer, California, and produces more honey than California, Texas and Florida combined.

They swarm if you don’t split the hives. You can return them to the existing hive if you destroy the queen cells and clip the old queen’s wings.
