Best VHF radio with GPS signaling

Piggybacking off of the Chandeleur thread….whats the best “bang-for-buck” vhf radio with gps? I mostly fish out of a skiff in the interior marshes on the east side of the river so I am rarely without cell service, but as much as I explore, it’s probably a good practice to have something like that on board.
Heading to the Chandys this weekend and that’s probably the longest trip I will ever make.

I fish out of a skiff as well and have this one. I would like to add an external antenna but having the programmable mmsi number for an actual emergency is the best. I also carry a SPOT to go along with the vhf

I've got the same one. It's served me well. I believe you can buy an adapter for an external antenna if you'd like to keep something longer on the boat.

Keep in mind, a 6W VHF radio will only transmit 20 miles in the right conditions.
As with any two-way radio, marine VHF radios work off the line-of-sight principle and can only send signals in a straight line. The signal doesn’t bend with the curvature of the earth, and cannot travel around or through obstacles. Fog and rain can also impede your reception as well.
ACR makes a rescueME PLB that you might want to consider.

I have this fixed mount 1400 standard horizon. As others said even with a 4-6 foot attenna you might get 20 mile range out of it. But it does have gps location.
