Hopefully. At the very least it should of gotten it mounted.

I saw a heron try to take a kitten at my parents house so I consider this fair play.

I would like to see what happened. Herons are badass creatures. Basically dinosaurs. Heron's stab at the eyes when in defense mode, so he could potentially blind the cat or injure it very badly. But if that cat got its jaws around the heron's neck, then it's probably game over.

Heron on the other end - Avery Island about 20 years ago.

I saved one that was caught up in fishing line one time. Full grown blue heron and he was NOT PLEASED. Was worried about getting blinded the whole time. Did save him though.

I have done the same. I launched a spinner bait a mile and a heron flew right into it. I reeled him close, and ninja grappled it's beak, got the line untangled and off he went.

Had one get up out of a rice field and flew straight in between 2 powerlines, it got real bright and then he fell straight down

Those are incredible photos. Guy said he didn’t even realize what he had taken a picture of until after it had happened. Pretty cool how you can see the bobcat waiting to pounce in the first photo.

Had a Blue Heron at my pond last weekend that the blue really stood out.

Damn good eyes. I looked hard and missed it, but I was expecting the bobcat on the other side

Pretty sure this has been posted here before but this is a picture of a Heron that swallowed some kind of eel and the eel chewed its way out.

Damn!

I wouldn't be surprised if that Heron recovered and lived on. The resiliency of wild animals is mind blowing.
