Recently had to put down my fox red lab after 13.5 years with her. She was the best. House just seems empty now and I’m looking for a chocolate lab puppy to bring some life back. Seeing if anyone knows of any reputable breeders with a litter ready or soon to be ready. Thanks

Gator Point Kennels
Be honest with her and you might get a puppy, most breeders of quality animals are looking for hunting or competitive homes for their dogs.
Most backyard breeders don't worry about health certs, pay a little more and get a better buddy in the long run.
Wish i could make myself own another dog but it ain't happening.

I see people recommending breeders but if you are just looking for a companion animal that might not be the best approach. Even for a hunting dog it isn't necessary to get one from a breeder. The best "lab" I ever had was a chocolate whose mom didn't even look like a lab. My wife wanted a dog and chose him. Before we even got home he imprinted with me. He was about 60lbs and looked just like a chocolate lab with a little bit shorter nose. He was the best. Followed every command, even a head tilt. I was always asked who trained him, etc. You couldn't knock him off the back of a 4wheeler and would track or fetch anything you wanted. Would work all day.

Now I have a huge black lab that I took in as a re-homed dog when he was about 6 months old. The people before just didn't know how to handle a lab. He was from a high dollar breeder with "champions" on both sides. He is a pretty good deer dog but is about half as smart as my mutt lab was. He would rather be try to be a lap dog on the couch.

Anyway, my point is sometimes people put too much emphasis on a blood line and breeders.

Perhaps I used the wrong term reputable breeder. I am looking for a puppy whose parent were both AKC certified and who have been taken care of well and not by owners just looking to make a buck. No problem with backyard breeders who care

“Blood Lines” is a catch all for people who are selling junk or looking for junk. BYB could give two shits about the health of their dogs after the money changes hands. You’re paying for the health certs when buying from a quality breeder.
So much misunderstanding about breeding animals.
