My Lab is itching and scratching

My 4yo Lab has never itched or scratched herself. Maybe once or twice a week for a few seconds at a time like you would expect.
Now suddenly in the past two weeks it's nearly constant. Chewing on herself, scratching under her arms and under her chin. She can't seem to get comfortable. She doesn't have fleas. I haven't bathed her (ever). I haven't changed her diet.
I am sure the OB can solve this. What's up?

Are her paws pink? Allergies if so.

Interesting. Well, she's a yellow lab. And her skin is basically pink by itself. But her paws seem a very normal brown to me. They don't appear irritated.

Did you change detergents to wash towels she may be laying on? We had that happen with our lab.

No don’t give her a bath. Hose her off with cold water but don’t put any sort of shampoo on her. Unfortunately this could be a lot of different things. Anybody can develop an allergy overtime.

Does she hunt?
No. I paid Cgrand $5000 for her on the promise that she was a champion hunter. She doesn't even swim. He sold me a defective dog. :)
I've never bathed my labs. Just hosed them off if they roll in shite. She gets dirty, and the next day she's clean. I don't believe in soap or anything that could be an irritant.

My lab started doing the same thing at 3 years old, then he started getting sores on his legs and knees. Changed to no grain dog food and they went away and he doesn't scratch anymore. I was feeding him hi protein ol' roy before.

Dry skin due to cold/dry air?

Nervous? IDK other than food allergy.

Might need a bag of $70 premium grain and gluten free dog food made from wild caught Salmon. Supposed to be a cure all of some type for dogs. Very effective on too much money in the wallet type of problems.

NC... I think I left a small bag of grain free pro plan on the back porch of the farm... You could try that if you haven't already to see if it help.
We have been battling this with Abbey for about six months Get it controlled and then it comes back... Hard to figure out the cause. Our best guess with our vet is Allergies that led to a Staph infection of the skin.

Going through something similar with my mutt. He has been scratching and licking non stop and lost some hair on his paws. He also had a nasty odor after a week without a bath.
Turns out its yeast and have been fighting for a few months to knock it out.

I'm having the same problem with my lab. He is seven and really has been scratching a lot the last few months. He doesn't have fleas but I noticed skin starting to flake on his fur. I got a deep cleaning brush on Amazon that goes down to the skin.
When I used the brush I got a bunch of skin flakes off and there were about 8 weird looking little bugs I got off of his whole body too. I had never seen anything that looked like them and couldn't find anything that looked like them on google.
Since then I have still been brushing him and there are no bugs but he is still scratching like crazy. Vet doesn't know what to do other than give him benadryl. I feel really bad for him. I guess I need to try to change his food weekly and see if that helps.
