At $1800 I dont think its worth it for a first rifle....and I own one. 1500-1600 and I think its a great buy, which you can find at times if you're willing to wait.

You can get it for like $1410 to your ffl for sure, possibly cheaper. 1200 is the lowest on gun.deals, but it's the email the store for this price. The $1410 was the cheapest publicly displayed price + shipping. LINK to that specific model.

Just waiting on the suppressor to figure out final light placement. Been keeping detailed track of the total cost of everything. For just the functional gun, it's about a $1,500 build. With optics, backup sights, light, suppressor, tax stamps, etc. it's around $4k. Not cheap, but its got a lot of the bells and whistles.

I will say it's heavier than I was expecting. Heavy profile barrel, steel Law Tactical folder, heavy-ish B5 SOPMOD stock, Eotech....

Without the can or a mag, it's a few ounces under 8 lbs. That is with everything on it. What do you guys consider a point where it's getting a bit too much? I'm thinking this will be 8.5 lbs plus mag weight when fully kitted out.

I tried several front grips and couldnt find one I liked.....plus I use mine for hogs so I have to put it in a death grip tripod....I shoot much better with no grip standing up.

Depends on your use for it.

If its just for HD then 8 to 10lbs, not sure it matters.
Using for 3 gun, lighter would definitely be better.
My thermal rig is 10.5lbs and that's with the new lightweight silencer.

Random thread hijack;

what's everyone doing with their older ARs, once you get into the build-a-gun phase of this? I like putting a new one together in a different configuration, but every so often I glance at some rifles and realize I probably won't shoot it again for quite awhile. Not that it's a bad gun, it just isn't the latest.

I've got 1 build I've dubbed "my favorite", I've got a couple different calibers, and 1 in a classic M4 config, and 1 with an integral carry handle in basically A2 config.
And then, I have others... Quite a few functional duplicates. I mean, it makes for a nice armory, but beyond that, I'm not outfitting a battalion. I've always been in the "2 is 1, 1 is none" and "never sell a gun" camps, but ARs kinda push the envelope on this.

I’m glad I got the 7.5” due to the extra mlok slot.

My handgaurd is 7 3". The gas block basically makes 50% of the mlok positions useless. And at that length, it basically means I've got 1 option if any for some components.

Finally got my 300blk tuned in yesterday. Had to drill the gas port diameter out all the way to an 1/8" and switched from an Aero adj. gas block to a standard low profile gas block. I think part of my problem was I had alignment issues.

- S&B 220gr began to cycle (did not cycle before current setup) but did not stay open on last round.
- Winchester WB 200gr cycled 100% and stayed open on last round.
- Reminton GB 220gr cycled 100% and stayed open on last round.

Had to learn about ammo types and chamber pressure vs gas port pressure from this video:

Cycling Subsonic 300BLK Ammo

Well, now that the gun fully cycles, this gun kicks like a mule and the gas is horrendous. Ejection pattern is perfect at the 3/4 o'clock position. Any adjustment there I feel like it's going to put me back to where I started. Which has lead me to this question:

Have any of you bought this KAK K-Spec BCG with "Down Vents"?

What it does is instead of ejecting the gas out of the 2 holes in the side of the carrier, it diverts it with 4 holes in the bottom of the carrier into your magazine and trigger housing.

KAK swears up and down that this isn't an issue and apparently, they have sold hundreds, or maybe even thousands, of these in addition to 1000s of rounds test fired. It's a $200 BCG. You can get the carrier for only $110 though.

For those of you that have bought it, was it worth it?

Looks like I've got the same issues as you, except I'm using a standard carbine buffer tube and 3oz buffer. Shot my 300 blk Monday for the first time and forgot to bring my allen wrench for the adjustable gas block. Gas block was fully closed, so I was shooting 1 round at a time sighting in my red dot and iron sights. Went back on free time today with the right tools. Could get the gun to eject. But could never get it to lock back or load a second round. Both with supers and subs. May have an alignment issue, but barrel came dimpled and all seems in place. Guess I'm tearing down the front end tonight.

Couldn't help taking a peek before going pick up the kids from school. Gas block is definitely aligned. Perfect circle of carbon around the gas port. However, the port seems to be smaller than 3/32", but over 5/64" based on my drill bit set. I'm reading that may be a bit small for .300 blk with an 8" barrel.

Thats the ones I just installed too, was just curious. Bleed-off or restrictive settings?

Fully open restrictive. Basically where they say to start and if it doesn't work from there, troubleshoot other issues. I obviously adjusted to seenif I could find it making a difference. But it only got worse from there.

I'm thinking opening the port won't hurt since I already have the adjustable block to tone it down if needed. Going to swap bolts in my guns and see if there's anything there first.

What ammo?

Also, if it’s not cycling now, an adjustable won’t make a difference since they don’t open more than a typical gas block. They only restrict/close.

Also, I think an 1/8” is the maximum you can open the port since that’s the hole size in the gas tube.

Yeah, got the adjustable figuring it'd be overgassed with a suppressor. But now it gives me the freedom to open the port and not be too concerned to open it too much since the block allows me to tone it down. I've read 1/8" is the max. Wasn't planning to go straight to that size if I did it. But again, maybe it's not the worst idea, then tune from their with the gas block.

Someone I know is giving me some random buffer springs he had laying around to see if that helps. And I'll switch to a more well known bolt to see if there's anything there. Then maybe comes the drill.
