Hank...Boris Yeltsin served as president of Russia while the Soviet Union still existed and while Gorby was still president of the USSR
He was also NOT a Communist at that time. He resigned from the Party in June of 1990 and immediately began working to dismantle the USSR. The position of Russian President was created in March of 1991, and Yeltsin was elected to that position in June of 1991. The USSR was dissolved that December. He was an ELECTED leader of RUSSIA in OPPOSITION to the USSR for those six months.
Are you too young to remember the 1990s?

The left was pissed bc it’s ideological Mecca was defeated, the Rs who ran the MIC (cough Bushes) were pissed that they no longer had a bad guy. So the Left finally completed its infiltration of the MIC that had previously been limited to the state department by making a deal with the Bushes, and here we are. The worst elements of both political parties entirely control our foreign policy - whether economic or military
Globalism is poison.
Even the Soviets weren’t proud to be Russian

wrong again
we began provoking a world player
we weren't "treating them like Jamaica"
we were provoking a world war
and apologists like you have the audacity to say that made Putin "belligerent"
you mix lies into almost everything you say
you consistently downplay the evil that America did/does, and you make "Putin" out to be the villain
so I'll just say it all again - you're a liar

So we are left with the notion that you must be denying Putin's status as an autocrat.
OK

The Russian proxy war is just more MIC bullshite.
Those weapons and money don't end up in Ukraine. This is just a gimme for bureaucrats and weapons manufacturers.

This was a barely cogent response and I can tell you were just smashing your keyboard angrily because you couldn't figure out how to respond otherwise.

neocons have always been lefty loonatics. their ideology is derived from Lev Bronstein's belief of a "democratic" world order by use of force.
Trotskyism was a very popular ideology within the American communist movements of the 50s and 60s. Bill Kristol's father was one of the first promulgators of American Trotskyites. neocon ideology became prominent in foreign policy studies and think tanks.
Neocons are radicals. and they need to purged from government and society.

To thwart a geopolitical rival.
We can dress it up in pretty words about Ukrainian sovereignty, but historically the pretty speeches seldom reflect the realpolitik.

If we had treated them as a respected international partner, Putin would never have risen to power.
Putin becoming president had everything to do with his control of the intelligence apparatus, and thusly the propaganda apparatus.
Yeltsin's hesitance about opening up the media markets to outside influence was a far more significant "enabling" move ensuring Putin's rise to power. . .since there was no countervailing balance to KGB/FSB propaganda.
