What, you think this is constitutional? You probably think that votes cast in the 2020 election when the state legislatures didn’t amend their voting procedure still count too.
The educational system has been an utter failure.
Here is what the constitution says about House rules
quote:
Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.

Just think of those awesome e-mails, though.

it would be incredible to watch.
The petulant kids would hate him too though.

Looks like we have all the pro-establishment crowd in this one.

Good. The longer they aren't able to vote on BS the less the average American is getting screwed
Posted on 10/19/23 at 11:58 am to SouthEasternKaiju
We need an America First Party. Walk TF away from the GOPe. Screw them and all their supporters.

How is it not? I've already posted the only mention of the Speaker in the entire Constitution. It literally only says that the house shall choose their speaker and other officers. That's it.
I'd further add that the only reason that Speaker is the only one who can bring legislation for a vote is because it's part of the House of Representative Rules that are approved at the beginning of each Congressional session. Those can be amended at any time, which is what this would be.
I say that as someone who does not want McHenry to have expanded powers. That doesn't mean it's unconstitutional though.

Have a link that confirms this? I can't imagine Jordan quiting this soon.

Massie is certainly amongst ‘em.
For whatever it’s worth … according to CPAC’s scorecard, these lawmakers were the most conservative in Congress (2022):

This is why you don't oust the speaker of your own party like that. This whole thing is so stupid. Said that from day one when everyone was acting like getting rid of McCarthy was some massive victory
See this is the thing…a few who purport to be on the right, like some in this thread, keep making faulty assumptions based on conflating certain things. I’m seeing some such as yourself say “well they shouldn’t have gotten rid of McCarthy without a plan”. How do you know there wasn’t a “plan”? Here’s what’s being conflated in these assumptions…a “plan” doesn’t only include those with successful outcomes and results. What if the plan was getting someone like Jim Jordan in who would actually do something meaningful than someone bland and opaque like McCarthy. They had a “plan” when McCarthy became Speaker and that didn’t work did it? Why didn’t McCarthy have a worthy plan??? He was the original offender here and needed to go.
Let’s look at it like this…does Israel have a plan to deal with Hamas that guarantees the desired results and outcome? No! Should they wait to act until they have a fail proof plan? We all know the answer is no to that as well. Why as Conservatives should we wait for yet another Congressional term to come and go without being bold and enacting a counter to what Pelosi did in her terms as Speaker? She was a wretch but damn at least she acted edgy on behalf of her party and base. We need to go on offense. Period just as I made with the Israel analogy.
Hell half the folks on this board wouldn’t even be alive had their parents waited to map out the perfect course in life to happen before having a child. We have very few guarantees in life and when you know you’re on the wrong path, you can’t always guarantee success by deviating from that path but you damn sure don’t need to stay on the wrong path when you know you’re on it.As a Conservative I appreciate the HELL out of Matt Gaetz for being bold and holding feet to the fire. We need more of this and then maybe at some point that won’t be required as our leaders will police themselves. And I have NO use for lukewarm RINO Republicans. Heck Jesus tells you in Revelation what he would do with that type of lukewarm crew…he would spit them out, rightfully so.
I have ZERO problem with McCarthy getting bounced. I do have a problem with the limp wrists of the party blocking the Jim Jordan types because he is bold enough to get things done and do the bidding of Conservatives for once…Conservatives who DO comprise the vast majority of the Republican base when all is said and done.

Dang, might as well just give the house back to the democrats. What a shite show.

Ironically MAGA types are both bashing "establishment Republicans" and begging for their vote simultaneously, which is funny as hell to watch.

So your take is that the Republicans in the House under McCarthy’s leadership were on a path to keep the House by doing NOTHING as it was?

I don’t agree with nor would I beg for shite from this group BUT in my mind they have a duty to do the right thing by their base/constituents and sandbagging a Conservative Republican because their worthless leader did nothing reflects on them poorly not those seeking them to do the right thing.

according to whom? This is a rift you folks fostered.
Y'all have worked on splitting the GOP for the past 7 years, theres no homogeneity. Imagine if y'all went after Democrats with the same energy.

They aren’t choosing a speaker. They are allowing an interim to act as speaker. But then this is the same body which illegally impeached a man who was already out of office which again is extra constitutional. But never mind that, let the tyrants do whatever the hell they want.
